Our Values

OUR VISION: Every child can choose a Remarkable Life

OUR MISSION:

  • We will provide an excellent education to every child, in every classroom, every day.

  • With excellent leadership and teaching in every school, we will help children go on to lead successful and happy lives.

  • We will work with others beyond our network to create capacity in the sector to benefit more children and communities.

Be Unusually Brave

Exploring new ideas and participating in experiences and challenges; making memories that last forever.

Discover What's Possible

Securing a love of learning and high-quality qualifications whilst building a successful future.

Push the Limits

Transforming themselves with ambition, passion and a thirst for success.

Be Big-Hearted

Developing a secure awareness of themselves, their peers and their place in the local and global community.

At Bexleyheath Academy, we choose to be unusually brave. We're not afraid to challenge wrongs, to make the right call, even when it's both unusual and difficult to do so. We are on the search for discovering what's possible. We look to create 'eureka moments' for our students, helping them discover a world of possibilities and opportunities. We always strive to push the limits. We don't settle for less than excellent and we won't allow our students to either. We resolve to overcome any self-imposed limits. We commit to being big-hearted. We choose to treat each other with kindness, warmth and care, believing that everybody matters and believing in one another.

Modern British Values

At Bexleyheath Academy we are dedicated to promoting values which ensure that students develop a strong sense of social and moral responsibility. We prepare students for life in modern Britain because values such as individual liberty, democracy, the law, mutual respect and tolerance are embedded within the curriculum and the Bexleyheath Academy ethos. In addition these values are promoted throughout the school year.

As school leaders, we are responsible for providing a curriculum which:

  • Is broad and balanced, compliant with legislation and provides a wide range of subjects which prepare students for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life in modern Britain.

  • Actively promotes the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance.

  • Promotes tolerance of and respect for people of all faiths (or none), cultures and lifestyles through effective spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils, including by engaging pupils in extracurricular activities.

  • Is supported by a well-rounded programme of assemblies which offer clear guidance on what is right and wrong.

We endeavour that students:

  • Are reflective about their own beliefs and perspective on life, and the extent to which they are the same as/different to others’ faith, feelings and values.

  • Show an interest in investigating and offering reasoned views about moral and ethical issues, and appreciate the viewpoint of others.

  • Have a sense of enjoyment and fascination in learning about the world around them and participate actively in artistic, sporting or cultural activities.

  • Recognise the difference between right and wrong, understand that actions have consequences, and apply this in their own lives by respecting the law.

  • Co-operate well, celebrate diversity and resolve conflicts effectively.

  • Engage positively with life in a democracy.

  • Understand and appreciate the history, heritage and wide ranging cultural influences that underpin our individual and shared experiences of life in modern Britain.

We believe that we allow students to recognise right from wrong, resolve conflicts, understand and explore diversity, develop a moral code, understand others’ beliefs and understand how communities function. These qualities will allow them to participate fully in life in modern Britain.
