I am taking this week's Quote and Question from a blog I follow, Paul-the Ripples Guy! While I don't enjoy many challenges, I know that I learn and stretch from them.
Over and over again, one of the central components of each of these pep talks was encouraging people to experience life's inevitable challenges as opportunities for growth and mastery. It frustratingly true that while the easy days are often more enjoyable, they just don't help us grow as much as the tough days. If your workout weights aren't heavy enough, they will do nothing to strengthen your muscles.
I don't wish any particular difficulties for you, but since they will eventually show up on their own, I do hope you'll consider greeting them as friends, or at least as respectable adversaries who will help you train for even tougher battles that may lie ahead.
If you wish to do so, share a challenge you have had and come out on the other side wiser and stronger in character.

Wow, what a great Q&Q.
On two occasions in my life (once while in college, once about 10 years ago), I was laid off of a job due to slow business and/or budget cutbacks. In each case, there was a reflection time of asking, "Why me?", initially through the lens of a victim (during which time no growth occurs), then through the lens of a victor (during which time one can examine one's values, mistakes made, new goals, and dreams). In both cases, those adversities allowed for personal and professional growth, to the point that I am now very thankful for them. - Patrick Mount
