Week of: October 9th and October 16th
During the first few weeks of social group students focused on learning and identifying feelings. The students were able to independently tell their peers and teachers about their feelings. Each student filled out a color wheel that matched a particular feeling. For example, on the red circle, students would describe one thing that made them feel angry. Each student shared things that made them feel: angry, scared, joyful or excited, disgusted, sad, fearful, and powerful as the teacher would write them down. To complete their emotion wheels: students had their pictures taken to go in the middle- so that all their emotions and feelings could surround them.
Week of: October 23rd and October 30th
During the last few weeks, the students worked on recognizing the four zones of regulation and separating and sorting emotions to fit the zones. Each student completed a handout where they wrote down the feeling depicted in a picture. The students did a great job recognizing and identifying possible feelings.
