This week in social group, students reviewed asking peers to play on the playground and why manners are important when we play with peers.
First we discussed why it is important to show manners on the playground. (The handout below was sent home with your child.)
After we discussed this, students were given a worksheet with the question: How can we use good manners on the playground? Who is using good manners? The worksheet had three picture scenarios. The students needed to determine which children were displaying manners on the playground and color in the correct picture.
We then assessed the students' knowledge. They were given three written scenarios and they needed to indicate if the scenarios were displaying manners or not. If they were, they marked it with a smiley face, if they were not, they marked it with a sad face.
All group members raised their hand when they wanted to share! They recalled the steps to asking peers to play and shared ways of using manners on the playground!
