This week in social group, students continued their unit on blurting out.
We started class by reading the book, Lacey Walker, Nonstop Talker by: Christianne Jones.
After, we had a turn and talk discussion with our peers. Students had conversations with a buddy about how Lacey changed from a nonstop talker to a good listener. They then needed to think of a time when they blurted out in class or at home and a strategy they could have used to control their blurt. When it was time to share with the group, students had to tell the class what their buddy had said to show they were listening and have appropriate conversations with peers.
Finally, the students had to fill out advice cards of a strategy they learned to control their blurts so other students can use these strategies too! These are displayed on the bulletin board in the classroom.
