Any form of discrimination or harassment within our educational community is inconsistent with our mission. Because we believe in the principles of free inquiry and free expression, discrimination and harassment are incompatible with the values of The New School.
The New School of Northern Virginia is committed to providing a work environment that is free from all forms of unlawful discrimination by race, color, gender, religion, age, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, marital or veteran status, or any other characteristic that is protected by law. This policy applies to all interactions within The New School community, including those of administrators, teachers, students, and parents.
The New School strongly encourages prompt reporting of all incidents of alleged discrimination/harassment. Either an informal or formal complaint should be filed with the School Administrator for appropriate fact gathering, discussion, review, and resolution. If the complainant is not satisfied with the resolution achieved, a formal complaint can be filed with the Headmaster.
In the event it is determined that prohibited conduct occurred, the school will take prompt corrective action and anyone found to have engaged in misconduct constituting discrimination/harassment will be appropriately disciplined. As affirmed in the first paragraph, the policies of the school regarding any form of discrimination or harassment are both consistent with the law and may well be more exacting than the law demands.
