02. Middle School Grading
Middle School students are graded according to the same scale as the High School students. However, final grades are recorded with either Pass or Fail.
Middle School teachers do not usually emphasize grades on a day-to-day basis. Rather, they provide students with ongoing oral and written feedback throughout the year.
Each quarter, students receive a final grade of either Pass or Fail in each class, along with a narrative evaluation that explains their performance in more detail.
Middle School students enrolled in a foreign language class or high school level math (Algebra 1 or above) will receive letter grades. Middle School students are also only eligible to receive high school credit in foreign language or high school level math (Algebra 1 or above) courses.
Middle School teachers use PowerSchool to record individual grades and assignments. Students are encouraged to check PowerSchool frequently and to maintain an ongoing dialogue with their teachers about their performance.
