06. Student Car Policy

Student driving is a privilege that can be revoked any time the school feels a student is not living up to the student car policy or is acting in an unsafe or disruptive manner. We expect student drivers to use good judgment and to adhere to the following requirements.

    1. Unsafe driving at school or while on a school function is unacceptable. This includes speeding (especially in the school parking lot), playing around in cars, and being distracted (by music, a cell phone, etc.) while you are driving. It also includes driving students who do not have permission to be in your car, whether for lunch out or for an off campus event.

    2. Your car is for you to get to and from school and for use during lunch out if you have earned that privilege. It is not for hanging out or for storing your stuff. You should not be in your car other than when you arrive on campus and when you leave. You may not go to your car during or between classes unless you have permission from your teacher. You may not hang out in your car during lunch.

    3. Students with off-campus lunch privileges must sign-out and then sign-in in the Main Office. Students who fail to do this will lose their lunch privileges.

    4. Students must park in the designated areas, as defined by the Office Manager, Val Boone. Do not use the parking lots across from Building C or the Science Center. Students must park their cars in the parking spaces adjacent to the playground.

    5. If driving causes you to be disruptive or in violation of school expectations, you may lose your privileges. Being late for your after-lunch class is disruptive; leaving early without signing out is a violation of school expectations.

    6. You must have a completed Driving Privileges form on file in the office. This form must be signed by a parent or guardian and includes your vehicle information. You may not drive to school and park on campus until you have completed and submitted this form.
