Sharing Agreeement

    Recently, the Mount Pleasant CSD realigned our custodial responsibilities and placed them under the building principals.  This has freed up time for our maintenance director.  One of the operational sharing functions is maintenance directors.   A neighboring district, Harmony, would like to share this position.  Harmony understands our person is very busy and will be flexible on days/time he is in the district.  Harmony would pay Mount Pleasant $19,669.58 an equivalence of one day a week.  Our person would be responsible for setting up maintenance schedules and training Harmony personnel in maintenance of equipment and buildings.  Harmony will received approximately $61,000 in operational sharing funds to do this.  The State Education Board is still examining the new operational sharing rules and if they would return the rules to previous years we could be eligible for additional funds, but currently are capped at counting 40 additional students which we received by sharing a librarian with Keokuk CSD.  If we decide not to share than employee salaries will need to be adjusted for next school year.  This sharing agreement would allow for a win/win situation where a current employees can keep their salary, both district benefit financially, and we begin the process of creating partnerships.   Superintendent Wells recommends approving this sharing contract.
