Early Start Waiver for 2015-2016 School Calendar

Iowa Code 279.12(4) allows the Board of a school district to make a request to DE to "commence classes" prior to the earliest starting date specified in Iowa Code.

Classroom days for students can begin no sooner than the week in which Sept. 1 falls.

The Board must hold a public hearing on the early start calendar waiver by July 1, 2015.
