State Voluntary Preschool Program

The state of Iowa's "State Voluntary Preschool Program" provides funds to schools to educate 4 year old children.  The program has stipulations including length of day, assessment and teacher quality.  At the inception of the program schools were uncertain on future funding and some schools, including Mt. Pleasant, opted not to participate.  This year the state is opening up the process and allowing schools an opportunity to join the program.  Superintendent Wells is organizing a meeting July 24th with community preschools to discuss having a Quality Community Preschool Program for Mt. Pleasant.  The deadline has past but due to Mt. Pleasant hiring a new superintendent they have extended the window to August.  School readiness is a key concern for our school district.  I would recommend that we gauge the interest of our community partners and pursue the funding/programming.  Attached is a copy of the letter and agenda for this meeting.
