Task 11: Designing and Publishing Project Brochure
This will be graded by STEM teacher
NOTE TO STUDENTS
You need to use Google Chrome browser when you complete this assignment as other browsers will not let you to copy your download link for your brochure.
PURPOSE: Prepare a brochure/handout about your project for visitors to be used during a science fair, an exhibition or a presentation.
Here are 2 sample brochures: Chemistry (word format , pdf format) and Physics (word format, pdf format)
STEP 1
Generate 2 QR Codes for your brochure
Use your own text and photos/figures to prepare the handout.
Give a title to your handout as "Your project name 2015"
Insert the banner/logo and the contact information of your campus at the top of the page
Find a website to generate QR codes (For Example: http://goqr.me/ or http://www.qrstuff.com/)
Generate a QR code containing a link to your Video Presentation (Digital Story) hosted at either YouTube or Google Drive
Generate another QR code containing a link to your Google Sites (website).
Copy and paste the pictures of your QR codes to your brochure.
STEP 2
Change settings of homepage to make it available for attaching files
Go to the home page
"More" menu on the right top corner
Choose "page settings"
Check "allow attachment"
Now your homepage is ready to upload your brochure
STEP 3
Add the brochure download link to your homepage
Upload your brochure to homepage by using "Add Files" icon at the bottom of your page.
Don't upload your file only in PDF format; consider uploading in Word or Google doc format. This will allow you to further edit your brochure in the future if needed.
After the attachment is done and file is uploaded to your home page, right click on the "download arrow" icon. Select "copy link address".
Type the following statement "Click here to download my handout or brochure" on your HOMEPAGE. Highlight this text and insert the copied link from previous step by using the Link icon from the toolbar. When you insert this link, use "Web Address" option.
NOTE TO STUDENTS
If you are presenting your project in one of the STEM expos such as STEM FESTIVAL or I-SWEEEP public day, your teacher should print out enough copies of your handout/brochure so that you can share that with the visitors.
Therefore, this assignment should be completed before the STEM FESTIVAL or before your teacher submits your website link to 2014 website contest (www.stemcontest.com).
