Why are we implementing managed Apple IDs now?
Managed Apple IDs will give students and staff 200 GB of iCloud storage space, the ability to back up iPads, collaboration possibilities, and access to new learning tools like Schoolwork.
Why are students and staff being asked for our Microsoft account information?
We are using a Microsoft service to connect with the necessary Apple account-management software. Don't worry, you will use the same email address and password that you currently use for email, computer login, etc. For example...
Staff example:
Username: firstinitiallastname@eusd.org
Password: [YOURemailpassword]
Student Example:
Username: 123456@eusd.org
Password: [4-Digit-PW-twice]
How do we sign in to our new Apple IDs on EUSD iPads?
*NEW* For ALL EUSD Managed iPads: Apple ID info can be updated anytime in Settings. Use the first tab in settings (pictured below) to sign in with your managed EUSD Apple ID.
Note: EUSD's managed Apple IDs do not give end-users access to the App Store (we have Self Service for that)... BUT, TEACHERS can sign in with BOTH an EUSD-managed Apple ID AND a personal Apple ID to get the best of both worlds! After signing into the area pictured above with your EUSD Managed Apple ID, go to Settings>iTunes & App Store and sign in with your personal Apple ID there.
FYI - Activation instructions on the Activation and Enrollment webpage include the information outlined above.
What if I already created a personal Apple ID with my eusd.org email address?
If you already have a personal Apple ID that you created using your EUSD email account, you will be contacted by Apple to provide a new email address to associate with your personal Apple ID content. Not sure if you already created an account? ...If you don't get an email from Apple -- no action is needed! The whole process is outlined here.
If you need to associate your account with another email address, here are some tips to help you through this process:
If you get an email from Apple, read and follow the instructions carefully
Act now! If you don't take action to re-associate your Apple ID with another email address, you cannot use your new managed Apple ID until you take the necessary steps, or for 60 days if no action is taken.
Choose a different email address that is not already associated with an Apple ID -- you can always create a new personal gmail account to use for this process
