Prior to using Lexia ELD, students need to download the Lexia ELD app from Self-Service, and must log in through Clever.
Lexia ELD is an English Language Development app that is appropriate for use with EL and newcomer students. Lexia ELD should not replace daily designated ELD instruction.
All elementary students who are designated as EL or TBD will be automatically assigned to this program, and if they used the program last year, their progress will seamlessly continue this year. In middle school, only newcomer students will have access to Lexia.
RFEP students will NOT have access to this program unless their parent or teacher requests it.
When your student uses Lexia ELD for the first time, he/she will be prompted to use the auto placement tool in order to be placed within the program.

Lexia ELD is an app students should use to supplement Benchmark designated ELD. We are encouraging students to use this app for homework or during asynchronous learning time.
In order to achieve language proficiency growth, it is recommended that students spend approximately 15-20 minutes per day, three times a week working in the online Lexia ELD program (in addition to dELD with the teacher).
Why are we using Lexia ELD?
The Escondido Union School District believes that all students can actualize their unlimited potential. Many of the students within EUSD are English Language learners. This diverse group of students comes to us with differing educational backgrounds and different levels of proficiency in English. As such, the district wants to ensure that these English learners receive specialized instruction, integrated and designated English language development or ELD, to support their learning needs.
Our California ELD Framework states that, “English learners at all English proficiency levels and all ages require both integrated ELD and specialized attention to their particular language learning needs, or designated ELD.” Our state guidelines suggest that designated ELD should occur for 30 minutes every day.
