Essential Question: Can we, as small businesses entrepreneurs, design a resilient budget?
Project Overview: In today's world, entrepreneurship and innovation are highly valued skills. Students will explore the world of business by creating their own business budget and proposal. They will explore real-world business practices and consider the challenges and strategies involved in starting and running a successful venture (and how to do the math)
In this Unit 5 aligned PBL, students will create a business budget for a fictional small business, then test its resilience in a one day in-class simulation. Over the course of the project, students will explore personal budgets, determine barriers and challenges faced by small businesses in Escondido, and use that background to guide their decision making process. Students will then reflect on the resilience of their budget and create a data visualization sheet to be shared publicly in the school hall, as well as be sent to the Escondido Chamber of Commerce.
