The Mauritius Learning Festival
The Mauritius Learning Festival took place from Sunday 4 April to Friday 8 April. Thirty people from 12 countries came to Mauritius to learn from the experiences of communities in Mauritius and to share their own experiences with them.
Sunday 3 April
Getting to know each other
On Sunday 3 April, the visitors came together to get to know each other at Flic en Flac where most of us were staying. Our friends from Botswana arrived late in the evening and brought a wave of energy to the gathering in spite of their journey.
Monday 4 April
The opening
In the morning, we travelled across the island to Flacq for the opening ceremony.
The first SALT visit
In the afternoon, we divided into 4 groups to visit communities in different parts of the island. There are more details of the visits on the page The SALT Visits.
Tuesday 5 April
The second SALT visit
Today, the visitors divided into 3 groups to learn and to share with communities.
The third SALT visit
In the afternoon, we made our final SALT visit to 3 more communities.
Wednesday 6 April
The community conversation
Once again in 4 groups, the visitors spend the day with members of the communities that they have visited during the first 2 days. Together they reflect on what they have learned so far, continue to exchange experience, tell stories about those experiences and begin to organise them in Knowledge Assets.
Thursday 7 April
Today the four groups come together (for the first time since Monday morning) with representatives of the communities that we have visited.
The morning
In the morning, we reflect on the shared experiencs.
