Green Flower Group on Wednesday

On Wednesday, the Green Flower Group spent the day at Flacq disabled school. We were met by a large group of people from the center plus several of our friends that we had met on Monday. We spent the day telling stories and exchanging stories.

Community Conversation Day

Flacq Disabled Center

Strengths seen during SALT visit to Flacq Disabled Center

  • Pride in their work and their achievements.

  • Determination to see their way through the challenges that they faced.

  • Determination to overcome their fear in the face of these challenges.

Reflections on the SALT visit for the day.

  • The visitors were surprised and overwhelmed by the number of people at the centre. It took the facilitators some time to create a process to deal with the 25 people that we met on arrival.

  • There was a lot of discomfort in writing stories.

  • Things were transformed when we moved to recording almost all of the stories

  • The dynamic between the visitors and the community was generally very good. At times, the visitors merged into the community.

  • The community took great pride in sharing their stories. You could see that the stories were indeed a source of inspiration to the community.

  • All of us left with an insight into the power of stories to inspire people.
