Personality: Calculating, proud (sometimes mistaken for arrogance) and cool, at least that is the general impression. However she can be warm-hearted, funny and playful when she feels at home in a place, or with people she like and trust.

Other notes of importance: She gathers her powers from the shadows, and use their power to move invisibly or transform. There are rumours that she can control and even harm persons by touching their shadow. She has a natural ability to transform herself (she is a cat chimera), she primarily uses her cat shape when moving at night, when hunting and fighting.

She is self appointed guardian of the shrine where Opal resides as well as a personal shadow guard to Opal and Candra, much to the frustration of Tsuki, who fear Shade more than anything else. She also watches over Shiomi, who serves in the Shrine.

She have the ability to project her cat form as a separate autonomous entity that is mind-linked with her, this Shadow of Shade is dependent on shadows for its existence. Thus it is possible for her to be at two places at once. It is not possible for her to transform into her cat shape as long as her Shadow is active, she will regain her shape-shifting ability only when they merge again or her Shadow is dispelled.

Personae:

Shade (normal): This is the proud and cool almost human appearance that is the core of Shade, her grey complexion and her fiery eyes the only things that would set her apart. Her movements are graceful and almost soundless, and even if she can stand out with her beauty, she have an uncanny ability to disappear into, or step out of, the shadows at will. The image of the graceful lady can switch fast if she, or people she wants to protect, are being threatened, she is very proficient with any weapon, or object, and her agility, skill, speed and endurance in combat, even without the use of shadow magic or chimeric powers, are outstanding. Among people she consider her friends and in times of peace, she can be charmingly humorous and shows a surprising romantic side of herself, she is even known to play pranks on people around her. At the slightest sign of unrest or outside threats she will change back to the cooler calculating mode. In the Abode and its surroundings she have found a very relaxing environment, and seems to enjoy it fully, and even though she is known to scare Tsuki (and a few others) she never sees any of its denizens a real threat to herself or the others she have chosen to protect.

Shade (shadow cat): This is the independent manifestation of what many would call the subconscious Shade. Her face is catlike, with marked incisor teeth, her ears pointed and tufted, her feet and fore-paws have strong semi-retractable claws and a long silver-grey tail. She can be an agile spy (moving soundlessly and almost invisible), or a ferocious attacker, depending on the need, often used by Shade proper as a second pair of eyes and to guard her back. Since Shade came to the Abode and accepted it she usually is active all the time, although seldom in a stealth mode. While Shade proper resides by the Shrine, close to Opal, her shadow self is roaming around in the Abode, exploring and enjoying herself. The cat persona of Shade is dependent on shadows, although she never sees this as a problem, but rather a possibility, during the worst sunlit hours she keeps indoors, or in the shadows, but seems to be able to sustain herself from her own shadow if there is need for it. She also have the ability to dissolve herself into shadow if she needs it, get seriously hurt, or is dispelled by Shade herself. Even if she is a magic being created from shadows, she is extremely physical (in more than one sense), and don't hesitate to show it if she feels like it. Her personalty can change from cool cat to cuddly kitten depending on who is present and where you meet her, and sometimes on her whim. She can be very playful and/or provocative at times, and seem to be very carefree overall when she has no set task to accomplish. Both she and Shade proper retains memory of what she experience, even if Shade proper seems to suppress the knowledge. Some of her shadow actions will cause Shade proper to blush furiously if discussed openly though...

Shade (cat chimera): This is the full "combat" mode of Shade, seldom seen (fortunately) and feared by many. The abilities she have in her other forms is enhanced in this form, as is her ability to fully use her battle-magic. She is a relentless hunter and a ferocious opponent for any being while in this state and can bring fatal harm even to magical beings, normally impervious to attacks. Her speed and agility, paired with the ability to move between shadows, makes her a difficult, close to impossible, target for anyone engaging her in battle. Reports also have it that she can attack from a beings own shadow if needed.
