Opal - the Succubus

Sexuality: Stupid question about a Succubus... This is one of her main powers.

Relations: Normally very short when it comes to men. She have several other entities who look up to her, like the siren Calandra, their relation goes back several thousands of years. Someone once said that if you make her a friend she will be a friend for life. She have three daughters, so far, and although she have been, and is, overprotective during the first years, she gives them free reign as they grow older.

Personality: Recently brooding and often quite sad. She once said that she wanted to feel love, the one thing that she can never have, but that every human may. She can appear haughty and arrogant, when she is not interested in someone (especially against other females, unless they have some interest in her). Men (and some women) will find her extremely seductive if they have an ever so slight interest in her, or she wants something from them. These victims should be aware that it might be that she only see the potential opalescence in them, and will do anything to get their soul into her claws.

Within the Abode she is know to be quite haughty, and she can be quite snarky if she is in the mood, but most of all her melancholy when encountered wandering through the gardens connected to the Abode. Although several entities around her seems to care greatly about her, she basically ignores all or take their services, or worship, for granted.

Biography: She has entered a contract with the Old Magician to get to know what feelings are, as part of this she was given half a soul (her demand, and what she later called her mistake).

Those few who have come to know her better (Sus is one of those) say that she have potential for something far greater than a mere demon. There is also a rumour that her demon lords have sent a powerful demon ("a demon so fierce that even Cerberus would sidestep her, rather than pick a fight") to bring her back and stop the experiment.

Now she is going through and learning more about emotions than she bargained for, and some will say that she is transforming into something quite different...

And the only thing she wants to understand, is the one thing she never knew: Love...

Her song will make most people sleep and enter dreams that she rules, but she can also turn the listeners into slaves without willpower, ready to follow any of her whims. Her kiss can really make you forget everything, even forget life itself.

She turn men’s soul into beautiful opals, when she claims them after they got their part of the contract. According to her, it is the impurities caused by horrible deeds done that she uses, the pitiful rests she will dispose of in the pits of the abyss, condemned to eternal torment without even the memories of their past deeds.

The elf Erendil is one of the few who seems to be immune against her charm and dream magic, and one of the few to appreciate her song.

She resides in a shrine located in the mountains on the Nihon/Korean side of the south Sino-Nihon border on the "Imperial Earth", that is connected to the Abode through a permanent portal. Although it is not rare to see her walking through the Abodes numerous rooms and gardens.

There are several beings looking after her, even if she barely acknowledge them most of the time. Shiomi works as a temple maid (or maid) around her, seeing to her physical needs and keeping the shrine in order. Calandra, and later Palatyne, keeps her company and help her to take care of Candra (which seems to be one reason they came to her side). Shade watch over her and protect her, and the shrine, from any unwanted guests. Others that seems to be accepted by her are Erendil, Sus, the Old Magician, Tomomi (who have the feeling that she ignores her) and to some extent Tsuki (in her own way). Others, like Alma, openly fear her or hold her in contempt (most do agree that there is a good reason to fear her).

Although her shrine is frequently visited by local worshippers who come to pay her homage, she never interact or acknowledge their existence, even if she bless their offerings (usually fruits, nuts, rice dishes (sake and other beverages are usually left for Shade)). She will never interact with visitors to the shrine, but those entering the haiden might sometimes see her meditating in the honden through the sometimes half-closed shoji. Those who catch a glimpse of her is considered lucky for the next moon, but only if they won't describe her for others (Shade is the one behind this).

The chance of seeing her in the honden (if the shoji are open) is fairly large, as she spends most of the day in a sleeping state or in meditation (she sleeps or meditates, standing or, in rare cases, sitting), and it is not unusual that she is in such a state for several days, even if she don't seem to need sleep at all in the way other beings do, still seems to enjoy it.

Her daughter, Candra, was born in November 2011 (Novembris MMDCCLXV ab urbe condita), which raises the question of what she did in February the same year. The question is however still unresolved and the standard hypothesis is that of parthenogenesis (parthenogenisis automixis with controlled restitutional meiosis of anaphase II according to Old Magician) or virgin birth (however unlikely that sounds). Opal herself will totally ignore any question about the subject even if she at one time blamed a "divine blessing" (which normally is a severe, if not fatal, fate for a demon to get caught with). It's complicated...

She is very protective of Candra in her own way, never allowing anyone outside her closest circle of companions (i.e. Calandra, Shiomi, Shade, Erendil and later Palatyne) to see her before she learned to walk and talk. At most Old Magician, Sus and Tomomi only caught glimpses of her the first year, nothing more.

Shortly after her arrival to the Abode and before her pregnancy she switched appearance to a more human form (often walking barefoot) although with horns, after her "blessing" she always appear with hooves and mother of pearl horns, and have not been seen switching back to more human appearance since then.

Calandra refers to her as Opal Benedicta since the birth of Candra.
