The Fair Haven:

Communion with Friends and Family in Spirit World

Written by FOI Liturgy Author

Rt. Rev. Olivia Robertson, FOI Co-Founder

This Simple Rite may be Performed as a Solitary, with Friends, Family or Centre Companions.

Introduction

As we approach the Thinning Veil and gaze beyond - may we perceive the spirit world for what it is truly, the Gentle Home, the Fair Haven. Those seeking communion should have a shrine for Spirits to use as earthly meeting place, knowing they are welcome! The shrine is for simple awareness of the Otherworld, which includes dreams, visions and inspiration.

Ritual

A shrine with an altar is situated beneath a window. A candle is placed in the window above. The shrine contains a figure or picture of Isis, accompanying a figure or image of the Goddess of the shrine with Her Consort. Photos or pictures of departed friends and family may be placed on the altar. There are flowers and incense.

Light candle and incense.

The Goddess Isis Speaks

Do not fear death, do not fear darkness, for each within you has eternal life. Those who have passed into the world of spirit love you still. They are here. We are all eternal beings. We live forever and we all live now. I am Mother of All. Call me, and I will bring healing, help and hope for those in need.

Prayer

Come to us, all those who would be with us, our friends and loved ones. Help us to bring comfort and joy to all those on our side of the Veil, through affirmation of continuing life. Be with us, that we may console the bereaved, lighten the fearful heart and bring assurance of Life Eternal for all born of Our Divine Mother. So be it.

A Period of Silent Contemplation Follows.

Visions, inspiration and messages from loved ones and Deity may be received. Dreams with messages may be granted during sleep.

*Note: This ritual was written by FOI Co-Founder Olivia Robertson at Isis Oasis Retreat Center, Geyserville, California, Friday, October 9, 2009. On Tuesday, October 13, Olivia drew the accompanying illustration, after conducting a séance during a filmed interview, conducted by feminist scholar Lin Daniels. The interview and seance were held in honor of the late Kay Gardner, femininist and musician, who was a priestess in both the Fellowship of Isis and Temple of Isis. Olivia facilitated the séance with Loreon Vigne, Zarita Zook, deTraci Regula and Linda Iles seated within the Great Temple at Isis Oasis. This rite was first published in the Mirror of Isis, an officially authorized online magazine for the Fellowship of Isis, Volume IV, Issue 3, Samhain 2009.
