On Thursday, November 1, the Pennsylvania School Press Association (PSPA) invited Director Sean Gaston to share the story of Misa's Fugue with over 100 students, their advisers and PSPA board members as part of the kick-off dinner for their annual conference in Harrisburg, PA. Gaston and screenwriter, Zachary Houp, made the trip to Harrisburg for this presentation which culminated with the presentation of the prestigious Rachel S. Turner Award for Innovative Excellence in Student Journalism. According to Robert Hankes, President of PSPA, "This award, given for the first time, recalls the hard work of Miss Turner, who, in 1923, created the idea of a Pennsylvania student journalism organization. In December 1925 her dream became a reality when the state made PSPA an official association. The tireless work of Gaston and Fleetwood students and staff echoed Turner’s work 90 years ago; Turner’s historical interests as assistant editor of Pennsylvania School Journal reminded PSPA of Fleetwood’s desire to preserve the past."

Fleetwood Area Schools Superintendent, Dr. Paul Eaken, upon hearing of the award said, "This award provides validation from an independent source of the quality and innovative nature of this inter-disciplinary project. We believed that this film was unique and of high quality; this award confirms that belief. The film itself stands as a testament to the quality of our teachers and students. It also concretely demonstrates how teachers can work together across departments to develop a project that brought much more meaning to students' study of the Holocaust."
