Misa's Fugue kicked off The Ware Centers 2012-2013 Film Series, Monday night, September 24th, to a full house. Stacey Rutherford, The Ware Center Business Manager, said in an email, she believes "this was one of the highest attended films at The Ware Center." She and Harvey Owen, The Director of The Ware Center were very pleased with the turnout. Owen got the evening started by introducing some upcoming events at The Ware Center and then introduced the film by highlighting the importance of art and music and how it enable Frank Grunwald to endure the atrocities of the Holocaust. Following the screening, Owen introduced Misa's Fugue Director Sean D. Gaston and welcomed him to the stage where Gaston answered questions from the audience. The entire Q&A session can be seen here.

Attendees were then invited to the lobby where cheese, crackers, wine, and champagne were served. There, guests got a chance to see much of the original student artwork that was featured in the film as well as Frank Grunwald's moving sculpture. "I was told by Sean that this was going to be the last time that this sculpture was going to be seen with the film and for The Ware Center to be a part of that is something very special" said Owen. One screening-goer was overheard saying, "this evening was just amazing". Others kept asking, "how did you all do it?" when they had the opportunity to meet and talk with Gaston, Cinematographer James Hollenbaugh, and Screenwriter Zachary Steven Houp. "The response from the audience was amazing. It's incredible to be a part of something that is resonating with so many people." Gaston said. "It was a very enjoyable and lovely evening," added Houp. Not only was the evening a special one for everyone who attended, but The Ware Center also donated $225.00 from the ticket sales to the current distribution efforts of the film. Gaston and his team are currently raising money to four-wall the film in NY and LA in hopes to make it eligible for next years Oscars in the documentary film category and to bring the film some national attention. It was something he spoke about on that evenings Cable 11 News coverage which can be seen here. We wish him and his team lots of luck!
