Misa's Fugue To Be Shared with Rwandan Educators

Post date: May 20, 2013 5:45:38 PM

Last Friday, the Misa's Fugue team received exciting news that the film will be shared with educators in Rwanda during this year's Educator's Institute for Human Rights, which will be held in the Rwandan capital city of Kigali this July. The EIHR is directed by two United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Teacher Fellows, Mark Gudgel and Drew Beiter. Gudgel and Beiter are members of the USHMM Regional Education Corps with Producer Jennifer Goss. When Goss received an e-mail about this year's Institute she reached out to the pair and fellow REC Kate English, who serves on the EIHR board, with the offer of including copies of Misa's Fugue for the 40 Rwandan educators who are participating in the 2013 Conference. They responded enthusiastically and also extended the offer of including a session on Misa's Fugue within this year's conference if the team can cover the airfare portion of the trip.

At this point, we are still actively seeking a donor(s) to help cover the airfare for Goss and, possibly, Director Sean Gaston to make the trip to Kigali. Airfare is estimated to be between $1200 - $1500 per person so if you, or someone you know would like to donate specifically towards this cause, please contact us ASAP at misasfugue@gmail.com. Additionally, we are looking for a donor to cover the shipping of the DVDs ($50) and the printing of the Educator's Guides ($200) since many Rwandan teachers do not readily have access to the existing Internet resources that exist for Misa's Fugue.

We are thrilled to share this opportunity with you and will keep you posted on how it develops. We also encourage you to check out the great work that the EIHR is doing by visiting their website today.
