I. All Managers on Duty must attend one hour of inservice per month. MOD's should attend 9 of 12 with the lifeguards during their normal lifeguard inservice times. MOD's only need attend the first hour of inservice.
II. All MOD's must meet the training and certification requirements in the job description prior to their first shift in this role. This also should include concussion standards online training.
III. All MOD"s should shadow a minimum of 2 shifts with another MOD to ensure they know all building procedures, emergency shutoffs, and emergency action plans prior to taking their own shift.
IV. The following items should be covered by the Facility Director with an incoming MOD:
1. Emergency key set locations: For gas, water, and electric shut-offs.
2. Sprinkler riser shut off
3. How to reset the fire alarm system
4. Location of water valve schedules (if applicable)
5. Main electric switchgear (disconnect)
6. Any other pertinent emergency systems/ information unique to your facility
7. Trained in checking and basic troubleshooting of pool chemicals
8. Familiar with all alarms that are used in the building.
V. The following items should be covered by the Aquatics Director with an incoming MOD:
1. Test out of all CPR, AED, FA, and O2 skills
2. Turn in all necessary certifications.
3. Procedures and practice for extraction from the pool - must be proficient.
4. Participated in at least one practice pool and "dry land" audit and proficient in all aspectes of serving in the MOD role for these.
5. Participate in at least one inservice prior to taking on a shift.
6. Expectations for lifeguard vigilance and how to make corrections/reporting.
VI. The following items will be covered by the Executive Director with an incoming MOD:
1. Member Service Expectations
2. Emergency Procedure and Reporting Procedures. (i.e Accident Reports, Witness Statements, etc.)
3. Expectations of hourly rounds, cleaning expectations, and reporting of safety or member concerns.
