The YMCA is committed to the communication of workplace hazards and the protection of our employees from possible injuries. To that extent, please review the following standards.
SDS will be available to all employees during their normal working hours at a central location within their YMCA. A copy can also be located in the pool pump room(s) for pool chemicals
Whenever chemicals are ordered, whether for restocking or new procurement, the SDS should be requested during the order,
The SDS of restocked chemicals will be reviewed against SDS on file for any information change. If there is a change in information, the most current SDS will be copied, filed as required, and the outdated MSDS removed and disposed.
The Redwoods Group has designed a form to explain the new SDS sheets from OSHA. (Formerly known as MSDS sheets.) It can be found here.
The YMCA of Central Ohio has adopted the following guidelines when handling pool chemicals. Please ensure that all staff are properly trained in how to measure and distribute pool chemicals. Let Rich Zingale or Elissa James know if you have any questions or concerns.
You can find the information on pool chemical handling here.
Information on different pool chemicals and their proper respirators can be found here.
Please keep respirators and all PPE's in a clean, temperature controlled environment where all staff have access.
