For sketchbook #2 I chose prompt #10 drawing a figure or face from observation or imagination. While in the process of making this piece, I found myself having to change my value in order to give the face a 3-dimensional look. I went for a simple drawing. When trying to make the figure look as though it is coming from the background. Overall, this piece was an experiment with different materials and a different drawing style.
Sketchbook Assignment Focus Statement
I am choosing this SB assignment: Prompt #10: Draw a figure or face from observation or imagination.
My central idea is: Shadow silhouette of a face
I am going to make sure this is clear by doing these things:
Use all space available
Focus on proportions of the face
Define values
I know I need a background that makes sense with my central idea. This is what I am going to do in the background: I am going to draw large and have the face take up most of the page.
Medium(s): Charcoal
This medium is the best choice because: I chose this medium to emphasize the values of the face and to created a shadow like look to it.
