Reflection
Looking back, my final painting and my illuminated letter planning don't resemble one another at all. The final combination of the symbols I choose to represent myself. I selected the wave to stand in for the ocean, and I selected the seashells to signify my love of the beach. Together with the pine trees at the bottom, the willow tree serves as a symbol of rebirth and for the state tree of Maine. The letter R is encircled by rose-shaped brushes, which stand for beauty and bravery. The mountains in the top right reflect the landscape of Maine, while the butterfly in the top left symbolizes transformation. I had to experiment with watercolor and various brushstrokes while creating this artwork. I feel as though my watercolor abilities have improved as a result of finishing this painting, and I look forward to using them more frequently in the future.
