Weeks 10-11: Algebra & Measurement
Week 11
For starters we have two write-on stapled booklets: Area and Algebra, to use in class. Please keep the booklets inside your red exercise books. Home Learning: use Education Perfect for 20 minutes per day. Finish Perimeter, start Algebra and Area.
Monday: Measurement - Circumference and Areas of Circles (see slideshow right). Watch the videos, do the interactives Tasks. Textbook pages Beta - p115-121
Tuesday: Algebra Sustitution (see slideshow above)
Wednesday
Thursday
Friday - Good Friday - no school. Start of Term break.
Week 10
Monday - Algebra
Tuesday - Algebra & Measurement
Wednesday - CW - Measurement - circles - circumference. See hand-out.
r = radius (from centre to edge)
d = diameter (a line from side to side throught the centre) is twice radius.
c = circumference (length around outside) is pi times d. Using the fraction 22/7 for pi, measure the circles' radius and calculate the circumference.
Thursday - Rm 7 Using Beta book - Chapter 8, p113. Circular Figures.
P113-115 - Circumference
p116 - 117 - Area
Weeks 9-10: Fractions Revision & Measurement
Monday - Introduction to Education Perfect - login with school email &
Class Join Code: 7RKZ3F
Tuesday - Algebra
Revising Indices with like terms, e.g. a^3 x a^5 = a^8
Wed - Measurement - drawing and measuring circles. Find Area & Circumference
Measurement - Maths is Fun - Metric Area Your Turn Questions 1-10
Volume - Maths is Fun - Metric Volume Your Turn Questions 1-14
Thurs - Measurement - 3D Puzzles - find smallest box volume.
Finding base Area = L x W
cubic Volume = Area x Hx
Extension: if you placed the 3D puzzles in a cylinder would the volume be bigger / the same or smaller than a rectangular prism?
HOME LEARNING: 15-20mins per day. Steadily chip away at the
Mearusement lessons on Education Perfect. (NC Levels 2-6)
