This is an introductory course, to build computing skills and experience.
NCEA Level 1 Digital Technology achievement standards will enable students to develop skills and knowledge of tools and techniques in three areas:
Digital Media - internal project 1 - students will implement basic procedures to produce a professional media outcome. This could be through iterative development of posters using Design Thinking & Design Principles to make a visual text (links with English). Creative students may also integrate other media from the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, such as photos, illustration & 3D modelling.
Computer Science - internal project 2 - Students will learn problem-solving and programming skills to iteratively develop an algorithm & a computer program using Python.
Human Computer Interaction (HCI) - external exam topic - Throughout the year students will learn about HCI and how to apply these principles to their work.
This is course aims to build computing skills and experience. It would be beneficial, but not required, to have taken Level 1 before.
NCEA Level 2 Digital Technology achievement standards will enable students to develop skills and knowledge of tools and techniques in three areas:
Digital Media - internal project 1 - students will apply Design Conventions to plan and then implement advanced procedures to produce a professional media outcome. This could be through iterative development of a cohesive series of posters using Design Thinking & Design Principles to make a visual text (links with English). Creative students may also integrate other media from the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, such as photos, illustration & 3D modelling.
Computer Science - internal project 2 - Students will learn problem-solving and advanced programming skills to iteratively develop and test an algorithm & a computer program with a GUI (graphic user interface) using Python.
Present a Summary of your Project Design Decisions - external exam topic - Throughout the year students will use Design Thinking to plan, protoype and test their outcome.

NCEA Level 3 Digital Technology achievement standards will enable students to develop skills and knowledge of tools and techniques in three areas:
Digital Media - internal project 1 - students will apply UX Methods to plan and then implement complex procedures to produce a professional media outcome. This could be through iterative development of a cohesive series of posters using Design Thinking & Design Principles to make a visual text (links with English). Creative students may also integrate other media from the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, such as photos, illustration & 3D modelling, animation and sound.
