Your challenge is to build a game that brings to light a story from your local area that you think people who live outside of your area might not know about, such as The Luminaries Gold Rush saga or Māori Myths and Legends of Poutini


The Games Design Process: 1. Brainstorm, Design it, Prototype it, Test it, Change it: Repeat! Test it => Publish it!

Your challenge is to build a game that brings to light a story from your local area that you think people who live outside of your area might not know about, such as The Luminaries Gold Rush saga or Māori Myths and Legends of Poutini


Before you make a game you need to create a GDD ("Games Design Document"). First see this Information:

  1. Form a Team

  2. Register

  3. Create a Games Design Document

  4. Make your game

3D Project 1

  1. Make your own slideshow/PDF to show your "Design Thinking" Process:

a) Brainstorm themes that you relate to, e.g. farming or mining, horses, 3D gaming

b) Don't be Narrow. Think of branching ideas.

2. Research online to find inspiration

- copy & paste reference images / videos.

3. Make 2D sketches & 3D play dough / cardboard models.

4. Make your own 3D models in TinkerCAD, Paint 3D and / or Minecraft E.E.

Take screenshots of development from different angles (Windows Key + Shift key + S) and paste (Ctrl + V) into the shared slideshow.

5. Get feedback and make improvements.

Export your Minecraft 3D Builds

  1. Check out the video / blog for how to export your 3D model creations

  2. Type 'T' for chat, then type "/give @s structure_block "

  3. Export Your Creations as .GLB and upload to the Shared Google Drive Folder above.

Paint Challenge: Paint 3D Modelling & Painting Textures

  1. Import basic shapes (like a Torus Doughnut) and paint it to give it sprinkles.

  2. Combine basic shapes into a composite 3D character and paint it.

  3. Try exporting your 3D Character from TinkerCAD as a .GLB. Then edit it in Paint3D to paint its materials textures. Save the Project and also Export it as a new .GLB
