3/9/2019 The North Carolina Aquarium in Wilmington NC. Aquariums are like the Science and History Museums to me, you simply can’t get enough of them. They all do extremely similar stuff, but it’s how they pull it off that is fun to see. Plus, I LOVE seeing the little things they do differently.

I find myself wanting to put a little “word bubble” over the crocodile’s head that says, “Listen punk, see all those scratches on the glass……that happened when the LAST kid who was here messed with me”.

This is an Albino Crocodile. Supposedly EXTREMELY rare! All the green you see is Algae growing on his skin and they have to go in from time to time and clean it all off……with a toothbrush! They say that he likes it. Yeah, sure, that’s what they ALL say!

Oddly enough, I think this was the highlight for me. These lobsters were way beyond "large"! I cannot emphasize enough just how enormous they were. The strange thing was, they were almost “pretty”. The rainbow of colors that decorated their exterior was something that I have never seen before.

Don’t know why an Aquarium has a playground, but the kids had fun playing outside for a while.

3/11/2019 Battleship North Carolina. I’ve been on Battleship museums before, but the North Carolina seemed a tad more “open” than other ones I have been on. Here it seemed like the vast majority of the ship was open for touring. We spent more time that I thought we would here and enjoyed our visit very much.

Juuuuuust in case you are wondering, this is what happens when you put an 8 year old girl behind a pair of 40mm anti-aircraft guns and tell her to show you her “war face”!

3/14/2019 Fort Fisher. Our campground is just minutes away from this historic sight, so it made “the list” of places we had to go. Probably not the best Civil War historic site we’ve visited, BUT we all learned new stuff and that’s always a good thing......and it was free.

Bear had shoved his whole snout into the sand and was removing the sand with his tongue. I just happen to capture a picture mid-lick and it made me laugh.

3/16/2019 Carolina Beach State Park “Carnivorous Plant” Ranger Hike. We have joined a State Ranger for a hike through the park to discover and learn about native carnivorous plants. Very nice place with an extremely diverse range of “plant communities” (yeah, she taught us that term on the hike so now I am going to use it) in a very small area. The Ranger did a great job!

3/21/2019 This was to be our last full day in Wilmington and everybody felt like it would be a good opportunity to hit the beach. So, that's what we did.
