11/11/2018: The goal for our first “big stop” is Dallas, TX. However, the drive from Capulin to Dallas was too long for our driving tolerance and we needed a place to stay somewhere in the middle. That brings us to Caprock Canyon State Park which is Southeast of Amarillo, TX. Reviews were really good, but we weren’t sure what to expect. Making matters worse, we arrived at night, so our surroundings were a complete mystery. Sunrise would reveal quite a beautiful place. It’s not the Grand Canyon (of course), but it is quite remarkable. Personally, I had no idea that Texas has ANYTHING like this to offer.

Something we don’t get back home is Cactus, so seeing some that are this big was quite entertaining for all of us!

Fun fact: This State Park is home to the “Texas State Bison Herd”. They just roam through the park like it belongs to them.....which....it sort of does. It is completely normal to see one of these massive animals meander through your campsite.

Back home, the elk have the right of way, period. Here? It’s the Bison, period!

Fun Fact: They are “Bison”, not “Buffalo”, period! Correcting each other on that fact has become a running joke on this journey as we cannot seem to get it through our thick skulls…..unless someone else says it, then we become an expert on the subject.

Hey, here’s another “fun fact”; Texas gets snow! I don’t think I was too pleased to find that out…..on a day when I was slated to get behind the wheel of a 19,000# RV.
