3/24/2022 We’ve been to the beginning of the Civil War (Fort Sumter) and now the end, Appomattox Courthouse. Once again, I managed to NOT get a lot of pictures, but it was a great to be able to see this site and take in the significance and history.

3/25/2022 We are staying at a place called Holliday Lake State Park. Many clues tell me that it’s a busy, BUSY place in the summer for folks trying to escape the heat. Right now? There is only one other RV in here with us and they have Alaska license plates. Grace and I have walked Bear down to this little man-made beach/playground area.

3/26/2022 We are at Historic Jamestowne in Virginia. We pull into the parking lot and what do my eyes spy? A Ferrari gathering! I park here not in the hopes that I can get some pictures of a group of Ferraris or so I can take a picture of our mighty minivan with Ferraris in it…..nope, I park here in the hopes that our minivan has a chance of photobombing THEIR pictures of Ferraris. Alas, I’ll never know, but I like to think that somewhere, someone is looking at pictures and saying “This would be a great picture if it wasn’t for that minivan in background”.

Ferraris aside, Jamestown is the site of the first permanent English settlement in America. You can talk about the Mayflower and Plymouth Rock all you want, but Jamestown is the beginning of what we know today as the USA.

3/27/22 We stop at Yorktown in the RV as we move to the South. Not a lot of quality photos taken here, but this one was pretty cute.

Funny things can happen when you take a pano picture. Because you are standing in the middle of pano and sweeping the camera across the subject matter, it warps the picture. What happens when you take a pano of something that is curved in the same direction that you are sweeping the camera? It flattens it out. This pano is of the same wall of cannons you see in the picture above.

We’ve moved a tad to the South and into Norfolk VA. This would be our first time at the Atlantic for this trip and just like before, we have set up camp just a few steps from the beach.

3/29/2022 This is one of those off-beat ones that most people probably wouldn’t appreciate, but this has Grant’s name allllllll over it, so we’re going in! This is world HQ for Grave Digger the monster truck. This is where they are built and maintained. Sadly, that part of the operation isn’t something you get to see, so it basically ends up being a big gift shop, but who cares? Grant is smiling and excited to spend some of his birthday and Christmas money.

3/29/2022 Bear is MUCH more cautious with the ocean this time than he was last time. Seems strange too because nothing bad happened last time. However, he seems to be taking great care to avoid the water.

Walking the beach at night with Bear and somehow, he managed to sniff out this crab. It was REALLY small and almost perfectly camouflaged.
