6/20/2019 Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument. Darn near 400 years ago, some Spanish missionaries thought it would be a good idea to settle in the middle of New Mexico and work with the local Native Americans and, of course, teach them the ways of their religion. In the end, mother nature was not to kind to their crops and tensions between the Spanish and the Native Americans didn’t create a good working relationship. What is left today are 3 sites that contain the ruins of these missions. Despite never leaving central New Mexico to visit all 3 (in fact, they are quite close to one another), they are all quite different
