Most national park sites have a park video. They are usually very well done and informative videos that are played in a little auditorium in the visitor center. We always watch them when they are available. Jimmy Carter NHP is in the former high school that President Carter attended and the video is shown in the auditorium. The entire room is impeccable. The floor, the walls, the stage and every single seat are beautiful.

This was a gift to Jimmy Carter from Yasser Arafat. It’s a sculpture of the Last Supper and I *THINK* it is mainly mother of pearl. Whatever it is, I was captivated by it. The intricate details and depth from the multiple layers were impossible to ignore.

Out at the farm house, we found this little guy and as he moved from the screen (in the sun) to the wall (in the shade), his color changed almost immediately. I know this is a well documented phenomenon, but it never ceases to amaze me.

2/19/2022 Andersonville National Historic Site. This place was a civil war POW camp and today also includes the National POW Museum. Now, I don’t think we knew the part about it being the National POW Museum before we got there. As important as a place like this is, I wasn’t prepared to explain what that meant to 3 children “on the fly”. I probably would have prepared myself and them a little better prior to our arrival had I known.

Andersonville was not a nice place. An incredible amount of Civil War POWs died and were laid to rest here.

The legend behind Providence Spring is that the prisoners here were in dire need of clean drinking water. The stream that ran through the camp was contaminated from upriver sources (man made of course) before it ever entered the camp and then the prisoners made it even worse. One evening lighting stuck the ground here and a fresh water spring emerged from that very spot in the ground. Fact or fiction? Who’s to say?

2/20/2022 We are at Lake Tobesofkee just outside of Macon GA. Nice little County run park with a sandy beach which I feel was specifically designed so the dog could trap as much sand as possible in his paws and then release it all in the RV upon his return.

2/22/2022 It is Grant’s birthday and where else should we go but an air museum. I promise that I didn’t plan to be near a HUGE air museum for his birthday but it did work out that way. This is the Museum of Aviation near Robins Air Force Base and they claim to be the second largest museum of the Air Force…..and make no mistake, it is BIG! Sooooooo, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Grant!

Let it be known that I love cut-away displays of engines…..especially radial engines….and this is a Wasp Major, so that’s 28 cylinders of pure cut-away bliss! Not my first time seeing one, but they NEVER stop amazing me.

Tip from me to you: If you want to see one of the best cut away displays of a Wasp Major, go to the Museum of Flight in Seattle.

2/26/2022 Kennesaw National Battlefield. I was taken off guard a little bit here. We have been to plenty of Civil War sites and I was looking forward to this one as it is, by far, the most visited Civil War site in the National Park system. What the numbers do NOT tell you though is that it’s the most visited simply because people like to use it as a recreation area…..and it was over-the-top busy! The road to the top is closed to cars now because they have so many people that hike/walk to the top and the road simply cannot handle both cars and people. It. Was. BUSY.
2/26/2022 Kennesaw National Battlefield. I was taken off guard a little bit here. One ranger I asked said that about 20% of their visitors actually come into the visitor center for the history. Another ranger felt that number was very optimistic. For reference, they claim to have had 2.6 _million_ visitors in 2019. If 20% is anywhere near accurate, that means that 2.08 MILLION visitors never stepped foot in the visitor center.

3/2/2022 Back to the Georgia Aquarium. 1) yes we’ve been here before. 2) we LOVED it, so why not come back? 3) They’ve built and entire shark exhibit/addition since we’ve been here, so yeah, we “have” to go back.

Once again, we are camping at the Georgia International Horse Park. During our stay last time, there was nothing going on. This time, there were a few events taking place. One of them was a dog agility competition and heck yes we're going to watch that! Once again, the iPhone is a terrible choice as it is pretty bad at shooting fast motion objects, but you get the idea.

3/4/2022 There are only 9 places in the USA that you can go see a Medieval Times dinner show and Atlanta is one of them. We talked about going to the Dallas location when we were there years ago, but didn’t. So, why talked about it again for a few more years when we can go here in Atlanta?
