7/6/2022 We have moved to Interior, SD to see Badlands National Park. Our campground is a short walk from the White River. Where the road crosses the White River, there is a bridge that THOUSANDS of Swallows have made their home and watching them is mesmerizing!
7/7/2022 Badlands National Park and there’s an actual real life fossil discovery dig taking place!
These swallows are EVERYWHERE! I got SUPER lucky and captured this one juuuuust as it was leaving it’s nest.
Yes, it’s as steep as it looks!
….and Grant was less than enthused with us that we were making him go on this “Forced March”
The unexpected array of colors that this park has to offer is quite remarkable.
We exited the park via a long dirt road that went right by this cattle ranch. These cows somehow managed to get outside their fence line and when I attempted to photograph them, they ran like I was building a court case against them!
7/8/2022 Something that I was NOT told in advance: There are A LOT of Prairie Dogs at Badlands NP!
We’ve gone to a VERY quiet end of the park (which a ranger suggested) called Sheep Mountain Overlook and it was VERY worth it! Quiet and beautiful is our speed!
Hot and dry was the theme of the day today and not the conditions I would usually associate with creatures like this, but here he sits.
Everybody has to go to Wall Drug once in their life….and honestly, once is probably enough.
Looks peaceful, serene and devoid of life….
….then you look a little closer….
