10/19/2019 Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. We kind of feel like we are in our “back yard” here. It really isn’t, but since we are still within the confines of our home state, it just feels that way. Given that fact, I have this odd sense of pride for this amazing place. The official National Park visitor count says that 308,000 people visited this park in 2018 and that means that this place is fairly unknown and not well visited. Just for reference, the official visitor count for the Grand Canyon in 2018 is 6,380,495 people. That means that the Black Canyon saw just a scant 4.8% of the visitors that the Grand Canyon did! That cooks my noodle a little bit! The Black Canyon is visually stunning, beautiful by any definition and vastly different than the Grand Canyon. If you find yourself anywhere near this National Park, you owe it to yourself to make a stop here.
