The challenge? Influence humans.
It's a fun game. So fun, neither realise they've forgotten to guard their hearts.

A spicy novelette featuring an angel and a demon who begin to catch feelings for one another.
Demonic Sylvie and angelic Teresa shouldn't be hanging out. But it's so darn fun to compete against one another and see who can draw out more sins or virtues from humans at local establishments. As their game continues, the stakes get higher and higher until the two women fear that it isn't possible to untangle their lives any longer.
I've been a fan of Jade's work in the past and needed a book with a green cover for a reading challenge I'm participating in, so I figured I'd give this one a go. It wasn't anything terribly special, but it was a short read that made for a good time.
The idea of demons feasting on people's emotions isn't very original. However, I thought it was neat that the angels of this world also feed on emotions, though they feast on humanity's virtues rather than their sins.
The friendly rivalry that Sylvie and Teresa have going was a fun endeavor to watch. Each round has slightly different rules and restrictions, but long story short, they try to one-up each other when it comes to harvesting emotions from humans.
This story does a great job at breaking stereotypes and addressing common prejudices. Who says demons and angels can't be friends, or that an angel can't indulge in a bit of sin every once in a while? It also goes to show that things aren't always as they first appear, and that one shouldn't always do what they are told by society.
The spice escalated a tad quickly for me, but that's to be expected in a spicy novelette. I did really enjoy how Sylvie and Teresa found quality lovers for the first time in their lives with one another.
This prequel also introduces us to the main character of the main series, Lana, who is a chef at the Forked Tail Restaurant. We didn't learn too much about her, but we did learn a ton about the world she lives in and the sin-filled food that she serves.
Overall, "A Demon's Cocktail with Sambuca" was a short, spicy introduction into the world of "The Forked Tail Restaurant" series. The demon x angel romance contained with this novelette was super sweet. I found myself intrigued by this world in which demons and angels alike thrive on harvesting human emotions and consuming them. I've definitely gained enough interest into this world to want to continue this series, so I suppose I'll see what Lana is up to at some point in the near future!Â

A demon romance between a wrathling and a glutton who must work together to accomplish their cooking dreams.Â
The Forked Tail Restaurant is known for its skill of incorporating sin into its dishes. Lana is the proud owner of the establishment, but things have been hard ever since her first love and co-owner of the business bailed on her. One day, an ambitious food influencer by the name of Demi enters her establishment and changes Lana's life for the better. The two form a tenacious relationship as they begin to cook together in preparation for a reality cooking show, DemonChef.Â
I enjoyed the novelette prequel to this series, so I was curious to see what the main series entailed. I was a bit surprised to learn that this one involves a cooking show, but I'm definitely not complaining.Â
Lana and Demi were both introduced in the prequel novelette, so it was really easy to transition into their stories. Lana is super passionate about her restaurant and the food that she crafts, especially her wrath dishes. Demi is a food influencer, which I thought was really different as well as entertaining. Mixing these two together made for some comical interactions, and their chemistry was pretty fiery from the get-go.Â
This book mostly features Lana and Demi cooking for one another, which I thought was pretty sweet. The cooking competition isn't starting in earnest until book two, so this one read as the set-up for the main story. I liked getting to see Lana and Demi meet in real time; I feel it makes it easier to root for them as a team both romantically and on the show.Â
Overall, "A Demon Chef's Recipe for Fried Chicken" was a fun set-up for the "Forked Tail Restaurant" series. Lana and Demi are both fun characters, and I look forward to seeing their relationship develop in future installments of this series. I wasn't expecting the cooking show element of this one, but I'm totally here for it. I'm excited to read book two when it's available to read!Â

The cooking competition officially begins in book two of this sapphic romantasy series!Â
Lana and Demi have officially made it to round one of the DemonChef cooking show competition. If they are to win an advantage or not be sent home early, they must give this first round everything they've got. As the competition begins, Lana must also work to keep her feelings for Demi under control. After all, having romantic relationships with her coworkers has blown up in her face before...
I've found that this series is a light one to read between heavier books. It follows two demons who compete on a reality cooking show together all while trying to keep their feelings for one another at bay. It's super sweet, and it has been fun keeping up on the ARCs of this series as they come out.Â
I enjoyed seeing the actual set-up of the cooking show in this one. We get judge's feedback, contestant confessionals, and all the suspense that comes with watching a competitive cooking show. It's pretty obvious that Lana and Demi aren't getting kicked out in the first round, but it was nice to see them not be the best of the best either.Â
We only get crumbs of romance in this one, which is understandable, because it's book two. We need to establish some rock-solid chemistry in the first book, but we have some breathing room before anything deadly serious happens between our two main characters. We do get some really sweet moments between Lana and Demi regardless. I thought the ending scene was especially cute.Â
Overall, "A Demon Chef's Recipe for Tasty Tapas" is a fun continuation of this cozy sapphic romantasy series. Seeing Lana and Demi in their element is really fun, especially because we get to see their relationship develop every step of the way. This book reads exactly like a reality cooking show with plenty of suspense and drama. I look forward to reading book three soon!

The DemonChef kitchens are calling again and this time, Chef Lana will be faced with her greatest challenge yet. Dessert.
Can she create a showstopper dessert to wow the judges and beat her competitors to the race to the top? Maybe. It depends on if she can get a handle on her feelings because someone from Demi's past has appeared and Lana is experiencing something she's never felt before. Envy.
