Rescuing someone from a dragon-guarded tower is a lot easier when the dragon is on your side...
Raised to help rescue those in need, Ingrid is thrilled to lead her first mission alongside her charming, handsome, and oh-so-irresistible friend Fen. But she knows she's going to have to ignore her growing feelings for him if the two of them are going to succeed.
As they get deeper into their mission, the tension between Ingrid and Fen grows, and they can't deny their attraction to one another longer, or that they want more than just one night.
Now all they have to do is work out what's between them, all while saving the damsel in distress.

A sweet childhood friends to lovers romance that introduces the reader to the "Dragonflame Heir" world.ย
Ingrid is stoked that she is finally being put on her first assignment as a member of the Damsels, a small organization that rescues people from their unfortunate circumstances. The best part is that she gets to fulfill her duty alongside her best friend, Fen. Ingrid may be crushing on Fen immensely, but she knows she must put her feelings aside for the sake of the young noble whose father is abandoning her in a dragon guarded tower. Luckily, the tower is all a ruse put on by the Damsels and the dragon is actually Fen in his shifted form. Can Ingrid put her feelings long enough to accomplish the mission?ย
This was a sweet introduction into the world of the "Dragonflame Heir" series. I've been reading a ton of Laura Greenwood's books recently, and when I saw this one had dragons in it, you could bet that my interest was spiked.ย
Childhood friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes ever, and Greenwood always writes them with such finesse. Ingrid and Fen's relationship is so cute, and I'm glad that they were able to work out how they feel for one another. The way that they sit down and actually have a conversation about what they want out of their relationship before jumping into bed together was so sexy. Consent truly is king in my brain.ย
I am definitely intrigued about the dragon shifter elements in this series. It is pretty obvious that Vasia, the main character of the main series, has dragon blood inside of her. I'm interested to see how that pans out and the main objective of the series as a whole. The foreshadowing of Vasia's lineage was a bit too direct in my opinion, but the title of the series makes it obvious too, so it's probably fine.ย
Overall, "The Dragon Tower Gambit" is a cute childhood friends to lovers romance with dragons and spice. I thought it was a great introduction to this world and has me very intrigued to see what comes next. Vasia seems like she'll be a great main character, and I'm excited to have already met Ingrid and Fen in such great detail.ย

In a world ruled by dragons, family secrets are the kind that come with fire and scales.
Kept sheltered despite her wishes, Vasia wants nothing more than to get out into the world and make a difference, whether that would be rescuing someone from a dragon-guarded tower or helping a family in need. But no matter how much she pleads with her mother, the answer is always no.
Until now.
Finally able to be the person she wants to be, Vasia sets out on her first mission, only to discover that what her mother has been trying to protect her from isn't the world outside her castle. With the annoyingly charming Prince Lijun insisting that she's a dragon, she starts to question whom to trust and what lies she's been led to believe.
With everything starting to unravel around her, Vasia finally learns the truth about herself and where she came from. Now all she has to do is decide what to do with it.

The Hidden Dragon Heir is book 1 in the Dragonflame Heir series, a dragon romantasy with a strong heroine who is determined to make a difference, a gang of damsels who are definitely causing distress, and a slow burn m/f romance with an ace heroine and steam in later books in the series.
