In this gripping sci-fi thriller, Svetlana Peterman has met her soul mate in Andrew Jovian, a young astronomer who works for Starbright International, the aerospace company his wealthy parents own. Once married, they make a home in Kirksberg, Pennsylvania, a small town famous for a UFO sighting that occurred in the 1960s. Svetlana is, for once, truly happy, except that Andrew’s family is strange, and not in a normal-strange kind of way.
Preoccupied with only two things—the night sky and carrying on their family lineage—the Jovians lack social skills and often pry into Svetlana’s personal life. Her intimidating mother-in-law demands she get busy fulfilling her reproductive duty to the family, and Andrew’s eccentric uncle seems to be able to read her mind. Feeling bullied and wanting a career before motherhood, Svetlana takes precautions but ends up pregnant anyway.
But that’s the least of her worries when she discovers the Jovians have a monumental secret that will change her fate (and that of her child’s) forever—a secret so powerful, it could alter the course of mankind.

A mother desperate to keep her child. A son with the power to change the human race. Their fight against an unrelenting family bound by cosmic prophecy.
It has been ten years since Svetlana sought refuge for herself and her child in an obscure town in Russia. Ten years since she fought to keep Evander from the Jovians, her ruthless in-laws, who harbor secret plans for both Earth and the human race.
Like any good mother, Sveta has carefully watched over her son while trying to provide a normal life amid extraordinary circumstances.
There is nothing normal about Evander.
In ten years he has grown into the powerful body and advanced intellect of a young adult. He is well-liked by all who know him, charismatic, genuinely kind, attractive-the type who could become the world leader the Jovians want him to be.
Ten years ago, the family let Svetlana and Evander slip away. But Evander is the key to the Jovian prophecy, and once they discover that he has matured, they will use him to build the new future for the Earth they desire.
Svetlana will do everything in her power to hold them at bay, but she knows it won't be enough. They are coming. The only question is, what will she do when they take him?
Jovian Son is the revealing sequel and conclusion in this family drama that takes place in a light science fiction narrative and reads like a thriller.

A character driven space adventure featuring a diverse cast who must work together to save a futuristic version of Earth that is occupied by an alien race called Jovians and many different types of clones.Â
After Caroline, the Queen of the Jovians, took over the planet Earth, everyone has some adapting to do. While the humans are busy adjusting to their new lives, they are oblivious of a dangerous smog that is threatening the very existence of the human species. Only the Jovians are aware that the Moon Children are the ones causing these disruptions. The very fate of Earth hangs in the balance and it's up to Caroline's extended family to do something to save it.Â
I must be abundantly clear with this one: I feel that this book is really great, but it just isn't for me. It has been quite a while since I've read a space adventure, and I wanted to see if I would like them now. Unfortunately, they are still not my cup of tea. I really don't think this kind of science fiction is for me, but I seem unable to stop reading them anyway.Â
Another thing that made my reading experience confusing was the fact that I haven't read the first three books in this series. It was stated that each book could be read as a stand alone, but there was so much lore and too many characters that I had no idea about for this to really be true. It took me about half of the book to have any idea what was going on and the character's perspectives didn't start repeating themselves until about then either. There are so many characters in this one that I can only presume have slowly been introduced throughout the previous installments. Trying to meet them all in a single volume was a tad overwhelming for me.Â
The story in this one was also left entirely unresolved, meaning that this book is very much not a book that should be read on its own. It is very much a transition from book three into the final installment of the series, book five. Therefore, not much happened in this novel that is too exciting without the knowledge of the previous novel or the one that comes after it.Â
Overall, I can see the promise that "The Moon Children" has, but it isn't my genre and I made a major mistake reading this one without having read the previous novels. However, this one didn't hook me enough to want to invest in the rest of the series. On the other hand, I can tell that the writing is good, which gives me hope for Catanzarite's other works. I am very excited to check out her fantasy books and would be more than happy to read her future works set outside the Jovian universe.Â

Look to the stars and you shall see where the cold light of fate marks her destiny.
Svetlana has sacrificed everything to bring her granddaughter, Natasha, back to Jovian Earth. But as soon as she arrives, her daughter, Evan, reasserts an impossible claim—that she is The Lost Sister, the prophesied savior who alone can prevent the planet’s destruction. Svetlana wants nothing more than to leave this world behind, but fate has other plans.
A relentless terror looms: the Moon Children, an extraterrestrial force, threatens to make Jovian Earth uninhabitable. At the same time, the Jovian Queen is dying, and her second-in-command, Miranda, is prepared to use force—an unthinkable act among the peaceful Jovians—to seize control and set a violent course for the future.
With tensions rising and time running out, humans, clones, and Jovians must put aside their differences and unite against the coming dystopian storm. But the battle for survival will take more than a unified front. The unforeseen, too, has a part to play.
In this epic series finale, the fate of a world teeters on the edge of destruction. Can Svetlana accept Evan’s truth before it’s too late? And when the cold light of fate shines upon them all, who will rise—and who will fall?Â
