"Have you ever had one of those days where it seems like absolutely nothing goes right?
Yeah. Me too."
Anna's day was one for the record books. Just when it seemed as if nothing else could possibly go wrong, she gets a text from a man at an unknown number asking someone named Susan out for a drink.
The text from a stranger which started out as a mistake quickly turned into an unexpected friendship…that is until feelings became involved. Suddenly lines began to blur, questions can’t be answered, and the geographical distance between them seemed to grow. Add in a handsome fellow art student with a surprising confession, a creepy ex-boyfriend that won't go away, plus the looming Spring Art Show, and Anna's life starts to feel like it's turned upside down.
Is it possible for a text message from a stranger to turn into a relationship? Will Anna take the leap into the unknown or is there something holding her back?

A cute rom-com featuring two people whose chance meeting changes everything. . . but they don't meet in person.
After the worst day of her life, Anna wasn't expecting a text message from a stranger to make her day a little less miserable. But when Mason texts her thinking that she is some girl named "Susan" that is just what happens. Oddly enough, Anna feels like she can be more open with her new texting buddy than she can with most of the people in life. What starts out as an unexpected friendship quickly evolves into something a little more complicated. Anna thinks she may be falling in love with Mason, but is that possible when they have never met in person and she has several other men in her life that are interested in her romantically. With a big deadline for an art show that she is submitting her photography in looming and her feelings in shambles, Anna must work towards untangling her emotions and determine what she really wants for her future.
Honestly, I wasn't expecting to like this book as much as I did. I'm still pretty new to adult romances, but I've hit the age in which college/new adult romances just hit really hard. And this one did not disappoint!
"Right Number" follows Anna, a junior in college who is majoring in photography, which is really neat. I love when the arts are implemented into stories, so that had me liking Anna from the get-go. Our intro to Mason was interesting due to the fact that we only get to meet him through text messages and phone calls for the majority of the book. The aspect of these two falling in love through text really pushes the limits of online dating, and I found it really endearing.
As a socially awkward girl who doesn't know the first thing about flirting or what to do with her hands, getting to know someone through texting seems perfectly natural. I feel that many people get too hung up on the physical side of relationships, even before they truly get to know a person. I think this can hinder the process of getting to know someone and establish an emotional connection first, so it was really cool to see this done well in this novel. I know for some people physical and sexual compatibility is one of their highest priorities in a relationship, but it's not for me, so I was pleased to see the characters in this book agree with me. I think it would be very difficult for me to fully fall for someone I'd never met before, but I really appreciate Sparkle's perspective on this.
Anna has to grapple with a pretty difficult love triangle in this one. We obviously know about Mason, the mysterious man she encounters over text. But there is also Liam, a fellow art student that she's known for over three years. He is super sweet and thoughtful, so I could see how difficult it would be to choose between these two. I think this is one of the first love triangles that I read in which I genuinely liked both of the guys (though it is pretty obvious from the start how it will pan out in the end). And there is also Oliver, her creepy ex-boyfriend that doesn't seem to know the definition of no. He is obviously not a romantic option on the table, but man did he add to Anna's stress and added fuel to the fire of complicatedness.
Beyond the actual romance and the plot, the thing I adored most was the characters. Anna is a spunky, yet awkward female main character, and Mason's odd sense of humor and nerdiness compliments her quite well. Sarah and Bree, Anna's suite mates and best friends, are truly the kindest, most supportive friends that will do anything for their girl. Everyone needs friends like these two gals, and I'm glad that I have people that I can equate to them in my life. Liam is also so understanding and takes everything that Anna puts him through with such grace. Once again, I would be honored to have someone like Liam in my life.
There was a short time in this book that I was really worried that it was going to get too negative and toxic for me to enjoy, but things turned around rather quickly. I understand why the third act conflict happened in this one, but I wish these two would have communicated with each other from the start rather than both just assuming things and flying off the handle; that is truly how rock solid relationships fall apart. I was also a little disappointed to see how quickly Anna and Mason turned sensual after meeting each other, but I'm probably in the minority when it comes to not wanting a man to immediately kiss me after only knowing each other long distance for almost a year. This bump in the road and the way that Anna reacted were pretty much the only things I wasn't one hundred percent sold on, and even then, I know exactly why these things occurred.
I adored the ending to this one. I like how openly it talks about the difficulties of long distance relationships and what it takes for them to really thrive. This has got to be one of the first long distance relationship books that I have read that I actually believed that the couple could stick together and nothing would blow up. Every couple has there ups and downs, but I loved seeing the aftermath of the relationship rather than just letting the romance go at the end. The epilogue was also so cute, and I love how Sparkle tied texting into that specific moment of their lives; it was seriously adorable.
Overall, I really adored my time with "Right Number." It was funny, romantic, honest, and didn't shy away from the hard times while still keeping the atmosphere light. I am glad that I was given the chance to read this one and am very intrigued to check out the rest of the volumes in this series. Initially I thought the other books were going to follow Sarah and Bree's happily ever afters, but upon looking, I saw that the sequel is actually about Liam (which is in itself kinda a spoiler I suppose, but there is no avoiding it). I love Liam as a character, so I would very much lap up the opportunity to read his romantic endeavors. I would totally recommend this one to people who are lovers of college romances or new adult romances, especially if you are an artsy person or are intrigued by the ups and downs of long distance relationships.
Back of Book:
Here’s the truth about heartbreak. It sucks. In fact, it more than sucks. There might not even be a word in the English language to adequately describe how awful it is.
Liam thought moving to Seattle would be the fresh start he needed after graduating from college. Or more accurately, graduating from college and having his heart broken by his longtime crush. Before the move Liam agreed to remain friends, but trying to stay friends with someone he thought he loved is proving harder than anticipated.
On top of the heartbreak, Liam also finds himself in the midst of a creative slump. After a sell-out gallery show the spark and passion Liam once felt for painting seems to be gone. With the next gallery event deadline looming and nothing to show other than a blank canvas, Liam is desperate for some inspiration.
Inspiration finally comes in the most unexpected way. Like a splash of color on an otherwise dark canvas, an inspirational woman enters Liam’s life. She appears in the most unlikely of places and Liam starts to wonder if there is such a thing as destiny... and if the woman with the red hair and yellow jacket is his.

“I was ready to stretch my wings and fly into full independence.”
Following her college graduation and spending a leisurely summer with one of her besties, Bree is ready to strike out on her own. After growing up as one of seven siblings and living with roommates all through college, the idea of moving by herself to a new town, starting at a new school to obtain a masters degree, and living alone is exactly the kind of thing Bree has been dreaming of.
However, when the reality of her new apartment doesn’t exactly mesh with her fantasy Bree finds herself spending lots of time at The Coffee Shop–a place where the coffee is incredible, the baked goods are life-altering, and the man behind the counter is nothing short of infuriating. Sure, he might be handsome–ridiculously handsome–but a guy who uses less than four words in the few sentences he does speak to her is no match for the outgoing, outspoken whirlwind, otherwise known as Bree.
It may be the coffee and cinnamon rolls that initially keep Bree coming back to The Coffee Shop, but when she realizes Jason, the infuriatingly silent man behind the counter, is the one making sweet, personalized drawings on her coffee cups, things start to change. The mysterious Jason becomes a puzzle Bree is determined to solve… only as the pieces start to come together, Bree will be shocked to learn she’s falling in love with him.
