A demon x fairy romance that takes place at a magical academy brimming with mystical creatures.Â
Moth fairy Lottie is desperate to prove to her parents that fairies are more than just pretty faces and magical wings. Wanting to become a lawyer, Lottie sets out for Rosewood Academy. There she meets all kinds of fascinating students, but she wasn't expecting to meet her fated mate right away. Archie is a demon prince, and Lottie is sure she is out of his league. At the Academy, Archie wants to be treated just like everyone else, and Lottie soon finds that her growing attraction to him isn't one sided.Â
I enjoyed the vibe of this one! Magical schools filled with niche magical creatures such as manticores, gorgons, and nixies are always fun. I love seeing more than the typical werewolves and vampires and such in monster romances.Â
Lottie and Archie are both trying to forge their own paths in life. Lottie wants to be a lawyer, even though her mother wants her to rely on her fairy beauty to make her way in the world. Archie is a demon prince who wants to be seen as normal and live his life away from the royal palace. I think that wanting to do things differently than what one's parent imagined for you is relatable to many new adults, so I thought it was fun seeing young monsters go through the same things.Â
The early part of Lottie and Archie's relationship was really sweet! Their dates were cute, especially when they went to play the magical equivalent of laser tag, magi-tag. They also spend time hanging out at the food court and studying at the library. The start to their love story is pretty cute. Things do end up getting spicy pretty quick, which again, is to be expected in a spicy novelette, but not exactly my favorite. These two are fated mates though, so it does check out that their bond turns so fiery so quickly.Â
I am looking forward to checking out future installments of this series. Lottie's roommates seem cool, so I hope that their love stories will be awesome. Also, there are a ton of cool creatures featured in the titles of the next books such as nixies and gorgons, so that should be fun.Â
Overall, "The Demon and the Fairy" was a quick introduction to the "Fated Mates and Monster Dates" series. The academic vibes of this series see cool, especially due to the niche monsters involved such as manticores and gorgons that attend the school. The romance was mostly sweet, though it doesn't take long for it to become scorching. Lottie and Archie's relationship was cute enough, but I have a feeling that the other installments of this story will be even better.Â

A short monster romance starring a demon princess and her fellow demon that is to be her mate.Â
Sophia is super excted to go to college and get away from all the politics of the demon court for a while. The best part is, she won't have to be constantly monitored when she is within the academy's walls. When Sophia runs into Lucas, she fears she may have felt the mate bond. Soon, she gives in to the urge to get to know Lucas and finds herself falling for him. That is, until a dark secret is revealed and Sophia is unsure if she can trust this demon that is meant to be her mate.Â
I felt pretty meh about the prequel to this series, and I felt pretty similar with this one. I think the major problem I'm going to have with this series is that each book follows a different couple, which doesn't give us much time to get to know the characters or connect with the romance.Â
I personally think that Sophia and Lucas could end up being good together, but this book felt like reading a romance novel on fast-forward. The entirety of the first semester is flown through in just over one hundred pages. I'm glad that we get to see their dates in great detail, but this left the third act conflict on crunch time. I personally thought it was strange how it skipped over several months just so these two could have sex without rushing into things. When approached like this, it still felt rather rushed into.Â
This story felt very similar in nature to the prequel as it follows Lottie's roommate and Archie's sister. Many beginning parts of this book felt like déjà vu, and even the romances felt decently similar. I look forward to moving away from the demon realm and checking out what other romances this series has to offer.Â
Overall, I wasn't overly impressed with "The Demon and the Princess" but I'm still approaching this series with optimisim. I hope that book two will branch out more, and that it will feel more unique than the first two. I think my biggest complaint is that the romance feels rushed in these novellas, as each book follows a different romantic couple. I thought that Sophia and Lucas’s dates were really cute though, so that’s where this book gets most of its points from.

Review: 🌟🌟🌟
A spicy monster romance starring an asexual nixie and the frost elf that she's mated to.Â
Lexi and Edur used to be best friends. Until the day that Lexi felt a mate bond between them and ran away. Years later, the two reconnect at college and Lexi decides to give Edur another chance. I was more excited to read this one than the previous books in the series due to the fact that nixies and frost elves aren't as common of species represented in the media. Thank you so much to Laura Greenwood for the ARC of this one!Â
The thing that first stood out to me about this one is the fact that Lexi is a nixie. I've only read a few books with these mythical creatures in them and never before a monster romance. I thought it was cool that Greenwood penned nixies with a heavy connection to music but with less of a vile intent than the typical nixie portrayal.Â
My favorite part about this one is the fact that Lexi is asexual. She fears that she will never be good enough for Edur and that he could never love her because she isn't overly interested in having sex. It is awesome to see ace rep in the monster romance sector, and I found many of Lexi's worries to be relatable.Â
Seeing Lexi and Edur openly communicate about their relationship is amazing. Their friendship left off on a really weird note, and it's nice to see them befriend one another again (especially because there's a surprising lack of resentment on Edur's part). Watching these two actively talk about their feelings and expectations around sex is inspiring and sets a great precedent for how communication in a romantic relationship should be.Â
Overall, "The Nixie and the Frost Elf" is another short and spicy read set in the "Fated Mates and Monster Dates" universe. This has been my favorite so far due to the asexual representation and the more unique monsters that act as out MCs. These books may not be super in depth, but they are cute stories that showcase how different romantic relationships can be from one another while also utilizing a fantastical school as a setting.Â
