You are inexplicably drawn to death. You wake sometimes beside corpses of animals or wolves you never knew, with no memory of having got there. Sometimes you can sense death looming like a cloud, watch it drawing closer but are powerless to stop it. Eventually you discover that the only way to refocus, to clear your mind of the endless fog, is to scream.
For you are a Banshee, and your scream heralds death.
TIER RATING
This is a tier two ability.
STAGES
STAGE 1: Beginning stage
In the first stage, the Banshee finds that they are prone to falling into a trance-like state, leading them toward locations where creatures or other wolves have recently lost their lives. They usually have no memory of their wanderings, simply waking up in an unfamiliar area with no idea how they came to be there, sometimes alongside their gruesome discovery.
STAGE 2: Intermediate
Acquired by completing three pieces of artwork or roleplay that relate directly to your ability
As the Banshee's ability grows, they become more attuned to their senses, sometimes able to sense imminent life-threatening dangers. They seem to have a permanent sense of death, but it is generally impossible for them to pinpoint the feelings or identify exactly who has been marked for tragedy.
STAGE 3: Master
Acquired by completing a further three pieces of artwork or roleplay that relate directly to your ability.
In addition to the above, the Banshee can now use a special howl - sometimes called a scream - a terrible, shrieking sound which travels far and wide. The scream causes intense pain for anyone who hears it, often immobilizing them, but for the Banshee it acts to drown out distraction and noise, enabling them to focus on their innate senses. In this way, the Banshee may be able to hone in on an individual who is in mortal danger.
OVERALL RESTRICTIONS
This ability is mostly passive, aside from in stage 3 where the Banshee's howl can be used at will.
No matter the stage, no matter if passive or controlled: every use of the Banshee's ability will result in a nosebleed.
The howl of a Banshee will affect anyone within hearing range. It has no effect on deaf wolves, nor will it affect another Banshee or a Barren. The howl causes an intense pain in the ears of a listener, building an immense pressure in their head.
This ability relies on the voice of the user and therefore cannot be used by mute wolves.
The Banshee is led by their senses, not the other way around. Their ability is unpredictable, and the users are almost a vessel for their power, rather than in control of it.
The life of a Banshee can be confusing and difficult to navigate. Many believe that the unexpected appearance of a Banshee means they are soon to die, and as a result, wolves with this power are often feared and avoided. Furthermore, living with a constant sense of death can drive a Banshee into madness, feeling their own death could be imminent.
