So, you're ready to begin! This section walks through the written section of your application and all the required information.
Svajone has a very large wolf population, as well as a number of special NPC's, which has led to requiring some rules pertaining to character names.
We do not allow two characters to have the same name, and we also ask that no character has a name that is very closely similar to an existing character name (e.g. same name with different spelling, a name with only 1 letter difference, a name that sounds the same spoken aloud, etc).
There are no surnames, and wolves should not have titles in place of names, nor should their name be preceded by human titles such as Mr, Miss, Dr, etc.
There is no such thing as society-given titles in Svajone. Your wolf should not have a title or nomenclature given to them by the pack, nor should any player assume that other player characters call them something in particular. Titles and nicknames given by friends are acceptable, and so are titles given OOC only for fun and flavour, but don't try to command all players that all their characters call yours "the angel of death".
Each character can only claim ownership of one name. If your character was given a name at birth, but goes by something different, they do not have ownership of the original birth name. For example, the character Moth was named Maya at birth: but because she goes by Moth as her primary name, and always will, the name Maya would be available for any other player to use.
The names of deceased characters may be reused provided they do not have any living relatives in game. However, as there are billions of name possibilities, we would encourage players to choose a unique name of their own before turning to using the name of a deceased character. For your convenience, these are the deceased character names that cannot be reused:
Khepri, Twitch, Toshala, Rayla, Ragweed, Areias, Kore, Gethen, Elvar, Esban, Bear, Birdie, Calypso, Juniper, Wally, Fitch, Snegir, Ifreit, Haroeris, Morael, Djekare, Macabre, Corin, Nia, Ananke, Tonkwan, Fiachara, Nerudas, Sabah, Harun, Othala, Ozan, Argorok, Saviin'ka, Clodagh, Isolde, Andras, Puffin, Noctua, Amalthea, Laurence, Petrichor
The names of retired characters cannot be reused. This is because the owners of properly retired characters have the right to bring that character back at any time. Retired characters are logged in THIS GALLERY.
If you are a previous member who has deleted their old application or removed it from the Svajone gallery, we no longer have a log of your character and you therefore forfeit ownership of that name.
There are a number of forbidden names that cannot ever be used. They include important NPC names, previous and current Alphas, figures from lore and myth, and names related to magic/abilities. You can find a list of those names HERE.
If you're interested in being an Extra Good Svajone Student and want to join in on some loose naming conventions - families from the united pack who observed the natural way most commonly have Egyptian names (Osirus, Khonsu, Amuun), while families with a great interest in magic and myth most commonly have Lithuanian words as names.
There are no subspecies of wolf on Svajone. However, you may still vary the height, weight, coat length and other features of your wolf as you see fit.
We have provided a range of height and weight guidelines for you to work within. You can list your height and weight in inches and lbs, but only in addition to Svajone's measurements. This is so we can keep uniformity across all applications, and if you choose to include both, so we can easily make sure your character is within accepted ranges.
Height range: between 70cm and 90cm
Weight range: between 36kg and 45kg
Height and weight restrictions are firm, and players must stay within the ranges provided.
For pup and adolescent characters, please list their adult height and weight.
Character ages have also been grouped or simplified. Rather than listing years, ages should be listed as either pup, adolescent, young adult, adult or elder. A guideline can be viewed below, to help you select the appropriate grouping for your character. Once you reach the 'young adult' stage, you are not required to age up your character if you do not want to. However, it is encouraged.
Pup: 0 to 6 months of age
Adolescent: 7 to 12 months of age
Young Adult: 1 to 2 years of age
Adult: 2 to 8 years of age
Elder: 8 years or older
If they do not have an in game parent, Pups and Adolescents require an adult guardian to take care of them - this could be a unrelated wolf, or another family member such as an aunt/uncle, cousin or sibling. Only wolves aged Adult or over may act as a guardian.
There are regulations about which wolves are permitted to become guardians. Find out more on the Guardianship page. Ensure you discuss your options with the relevant pack Alpha beforehand.
Pups should age up to Adolescent after 3 real-life months (one in game season).
Adolescents should age up to Young Adults after an additional 3 real-life months (one in game season).
Once you reach the Young Adult stage, you are not required to age up your character if you do not want to. However, it is encouraged that you age up over time and don't keep a forever child!
Your first character must begin as an Omega/Varen/Null/Darys:
Ranks and trades may be purchased in game with game currency (souls).
You may also use a Free Rank Up ticket to rank up your character, if you have one. Rank Up Tickets cannot be used to purchase the 20 soul ranks.
From your second character onward, you have the option to create them with a rank:
At time of creation, you can purchase a new character rank up from the shop and apply it to your incoming character.
The cost stacks on top of the cost of the new character, and may only be used to advance one rank from the new character default (Omega) to Delta/Apprentice/Second/Eiti.
You may also use a Free Rank Up ticket to rank up your character, if you have one. Rank Up Tickets cannot be used to purchase the 20 soul ranks, but you can apply a ticket on top of a purchased new character rank up.
Remember that you are writing your biography for the benefit of the players, not the characters. It is okay to intend to unravel some narratives in game, but you should still be clear and concise about the events your character has experienced in their biography.
If something important has happened in your character's past, you must include it in the application. Once something is committed to canon, be it in a biography or in game, it is cemented in place. You can adapt the details surrounding it, or assign established NPC roles to active characters where it is appropriate to do so and does not contradict canon established in either characters' history, but you cannot fundamentally change events or insert relationships or events where they did not previously exist.
This document works through the entire character application, explaining in which areas adaptations are acceptable, in which areas they are not, and in which areas you must notify or seek approval.
If you are ever in any doubt, simply contact us. We are happy to help.
It is not permitted to have an additional Google Docs biography which contains different or additional information. Google Docs biographies cannot be accurately managed or checked by staff. Information not shown within the artist's description of your character application upload is not considered group canon.
