The currency of Svajone is called souls.
You can earn souls by roleplaying with others, creating artwork of your characters, completing monthly special events, suggesting ideas to the group, and more! Souls can then be used to purchase in game perks for your character, or to purchase slots for new characters.
You can only claim souls on artwork or literature you have done yourself for your own characters.
Souls are character specific, meaning you cannot submit artwork of Dave and expect to give the souls earned to John. You can also only use the souls Dave has earned to buy upgrades for Dave - you cannot use the souls of one character to purchase upgrades for a different character. You can, however, use souls from any character to purchase a new character slot or a shop item that is not character specific.
Souls cannot be transferred between characters.
Each character can earn up to a maximum of 10 souls per month.
Souls are not automatically logged. To add them to your total (known as 'claiming' souls) or to spend/make purchases using your souls, you must note the group.
In the title of the note, include the character(s) name(s).
Within the body of the note, highlight which character(s) you are claiming or spending souls for and list the item(s) which earn souls and/or the item(s) you wish to purchase.
The following format is ideal:
OSIRUS
+1 soul for [link] (head and shoulders illustration
+3 souls for [link] (rp including soul stack and soul boost)
Updated soul total: 4 souls
You can send one note per character, or one note for all your characters - we don't mind. If you send one note for all, list your characters within the note in the same order they appear on the Member List.
All soul earning artwork submissions are subject to the same basic requirements, in order that all players are applying the same general level of "effort" to earn the same rewards:
Artwork must be pertaining to your character's canon/storyline.
The character featured must be identifiable (your character if canon artwork, another players character if a buddy boost or a gift art).
At minimum the character's whole head and shoulders must be shown. We do not award souls for super close ups of just eyes, etc
The artwork must be fully coloured. We do not award currency for greyscale.
The artwork must have at least a basic, natural background. We do not award currency for flat colour backgrounds, 1-2 gradient fills, opacity splodges, etc.
Canon artwork must have a realistic background, meaning the background shows a landscape which occurs in the natural world and is appropriate to the location of the character.
MCC artwork can be more conceptual, but conceptual means more like THIS (wolf has wings, which is weird and completely improbable, but the sky is natural) or THIS (chances are there aren't any locations that actually resemble a skull, but the overall background is realistic with a painted landscape), not THIS (sure the cool golden disc is conceptual, but the background is just a vague gradient).
You can earn souls by roleplaying with others, creating artwork of your characters, completing monthly special events, suggesting ideas to the group, and more! This section comprehensively covers all the ways you can earn currency, and how much currency will be awarded for each type of submission.
A roleplay is the primary interaction in an RPG group, and is classified as a collaborative story told by two or more people together.
Each person must post a minimum of 3 times to qualify for souls.
Each group of 500 words will earn 1 soul (i.e, if each person writes 2130 words total, each person earns 4 souls).
You cannot RP with your own character, such a thing would be considered a literature submission instead. You cannot submit your individual posts as literatures: literatures should stand alone.
Many of us have multiple characters, so it's possible that we may partake in an RP with two or more of our own characters. In the event this happens, please make sure you keep the posts for each character completely separate, so that we can properly calculate post numbers/word counts for each character and award the proper amount of currency to each.
Short stories earn 1 soul per 600 words.
They must be 600 words at minimum, but if you write 1200 words, you earn 2 souls; If you write 1800 words, you get 3 souls; you get the point.
Short stories/literatures are stand alone items or introspectives and do not follow cohesive storylines with other players - this would be classified as an RP.
If you are writing a literature that contains two or more of your own characters, you must write a minimum of 600 words per character if submitting literature.
E.g. a literature featuring Deimos would need to be 600 words to earn 1 soul for Deimos.
A literature featuring Deimos and Osirus would need to be 1200 words to earn 1 soul each for Deimos and Osirus.
Each consecutive group of 1200 words will award 1 more soul to both Osirus and Deimos - i.e, a literature piece with 2400 words would earn 2 souls for both characters, but a literature piece with only 1800 words (1200 + an extra 600) still earns just 1 soul each.
If more than one of your characters are featured, each character earns the appropriate number of souls.
An illustration should be fully coloured, with a natural background (not a single gradient, fill colour or pattern fill), and must pertain to your character’s story. Conceptual work is permitted (such as example or example).
Your character must be recognisable - silhouettes and flat fill colours are not permitted.
Collaborations are allowed as long as one character from each person is depicted in the illustration. All participants earn the same amount of souls, with earnings calculated based on the highest feature: e.g. a two player collab depicting one headshot and one fullbody will be cashed as a fullbody for both participants.
SOUL BOOST!
Animation added to any illustration earns an additional 1 soul for that submission.
BUDDY BOOST!
Earn +1 soul for each character you feature that is not your own character. Buddies must be featured as head and shoulders minimum and must be recognisable. This boost can only be claimed by one character per player in a submission (i.e, if Spirit drew art of Adel and Oscar with Menulis, only Adel OR Oscar can claim the +1 boost).
The buddy boost cannot be applied to small, distant depictions of other wolves (what we affectionately call “specks”).
If a collab, buddy boosts don't apply unless characters are featured that do not belong to any of the collaborators.
THIS is an example of a collab that doesn't earn any buddy boosts, since Hillevi and Sigrid belong to the collaborators (Rue and Kaly).
THIS is an example of a collab that does earn +1 buddy boost. Posie and Zevi don't count as buddies, but Argus does because he doesn't belong to either of the collaborators (Spirit and Rue).

Comic pages must have at least two panels, and each panel must contain an illustration that could stand alone (i.e. two panels with minimal differences such as a closing eye are NOT considered a comic), and be considered as soul earning illustrations (so two or more panels must fit the requirements shown above for normal illustrations).
Two or more panels MUST contain your character, and they must be identifiable as such (a silhouette would not qualify). This rule applies for each character that is featured in the comic. Pages which contain only one illustration (for example, cover pages) will be counted as an illustration and earn the appropriate number of souls from the point above.
THIS comic earns +3 souls for Phoebe and Nausicaa, but not Brick and Posie, for example. Since Brick and Posie are only featured in the last panel, they earned +1 soul for a bust illustration.
Collaborations are allowed as long as one character from each person is depicted in the comic page.
BUDDY BOOST!
Earn +1 soul for each character you feature that is not your own character. Buddies must be featured as head and shoulders minimum and must be recognisable. Cannot be applied to small, far in the distance depictions of other wolves (what we affectionately call “specks”).
This only applies if they are completed in the month that they were set.
If you complete a challenge AFTER the month ends, you can only claim regular earnings for your submission, unless you have a Get Out of Jail Ticket or a Mystical Time Travelling Cake Slice.
Collaborations are allowed where applicable as long as one character from each person is depicted in the challenge item or prompt.
Monthly Community Challenge artwork is permitted to be much more conceptual / spoopy. If you submit art, the same rules from the illustration section apply. If you submit literature, the same rules from the literature section apply.
Monthly Community Challenge submissions must include minimum of 50 words in the artists description which clearly explain how it meets the monthly prompt. Quotes, song lyrics, or other cool fluff we all like to include in descriptions do not count toward the minimum word count.
COMMUNITY BOOST!
If the monthly goal number of players complete the challenge, EVERYONE who participated earns an extra 1 soul!
BUDDY BOOST!
Earn +1 soul for each character you feature that is not your own character. Buddies must be featured as head and shoulders minimum and must be recognisable. Cannot be applied to small, far in the distance depictions of other wolves (what we affectionately call “specks”).
SOUL BOOST!
For every 4 characters you complete the MCC for, you may claim a +2 reward for one of those characters. E.g. complete 4 character MCCs to give 1 of those four characters +2, complete another 4 character MCCs to give another character +2, and so on. The reward can only be given to one of the characters from your group of four who have completed MCCs and you cannot reward the same character twice in the same month.
Gift art is defined as an image of another players character that is not canon and does not feature one of your own characters.
As per normal illustrations, in order to earn souls gift art submissions should be fully coloured, with a natural background (not a single gradient, fill colour or pattern fill), and conceptual work is permitted.
Collaborations on gift art will not earn souls.
You can only claim a maximum of 4 souls per month through gift art - this is to keep primary focus on world building and story content.
We appreciate any and all help to make Svajone run smoothly or be more fun to play in, and will reward your awesome suggestions accordingly!
Things you can suggest ideas for and claim souls from include (but are not limited to):
New or better defined rules
New items to purchase with souls
New ways to earn souls
Monthly Community Challenge themes or ideas
Future main plot ideas
Random event ideas
Lore or myths for the island
Any other additional features
Some suggestions will NOT earn souls, such as:
Achievement suggestions
Animal suggestions
Meme suggestions
Small fixes such as typos, moving links, or other aesthetic suggestions
To make a suggestion, leave a comment in the Suggestions journal. If your suggestion is plot related, spoilery or otherwise better kept a secret, note it to the group.
You can stack multiple things together in different ways and earn more souls. Here's some examples!
A completed monthly community challenge prompt as a full body illustration with an animation could earn 5 souls
2 for full body, 2 for MCC, 1 for animation
Add 600 words or more of canon literature in the description of an illustration and earn souls for both the literature and the artwork (e.g. a full body illustration with a 1200 literature piece could earn 4 souls)
Not sure if you can stack it? Ask first!
