Actions your character takes have consequences. Any plots which involve a character breaking the laws must be communicated to and vetted by the Alpha players beforehand.
Taika is a close-knit, respectful pack which operates on the basis of peace and an absolute no-violence law. The strength of the pack and the security of Taika as a safe haven for any who are in need only works if each moving peace is functioning well. There is the belief that each wolf should be working on themselves in order to give the best to their pack and loved ones.
The breaking of any law is most often met with a heavy-handed suggestion to seek the help of the Healers, who are trained in healing the body as well as the mind. Any wolf who breaks a law is given a chance to prove themselves willing to work on themself and find ways to cope with the issues that are making them act out. There is no shame in Taika of reaching out, even if a wolf just needs to speak to a Healer to get a weight off their shoulders.
The Akis is the highest authority within the pack and, while open communication and debate is encouraged, Taikans should be respectful of the Akis as a leader and the highest communicator of the Island's will.
A healer of any rank is permitted to allow visitors to enter the territory if in need of healing, otherwise only the ranks of Grand Master and above should be permitted to allow a visitor to enter. Masters, Apprentices, Darys, Upelis and Vandenyas cannot permit a visitor access to the territory.
While not facing consequence for roaming the freelands, a wolf is not permitted to embark on a diplomatic mission or go to another pack's borders without permission from the Akis.
Consequence for lawbreaking: Minor. A verbal warning issued upon first offence. Second offence leads to needing express permission from Akis to leave and a required 'guard' when leaving the territory until behaviour improves. Third is demotion to Darys and inability to leave the territory until they climb the ranks once more.
Darys, Upelis and Vandenyas may not leave the territory under any circumstance.
Consequence for lawbreaking: Verbal warning. If a pup wanders from the territory, the guardians of said pup at the time will be under more scrutiny.
Taika does not waste the island's natural resources. No wolf is permitted to do anything that harms the land and the creatures that inhabit it, such as digging up plants if not for herbal use, wasting food and hunting for sport.
Consequence for lawbreaking: Minor to Moderate. Verbal warning upon first offence. Then demotion to the rank below on second offence. Third offence leads to demotion to Darys.
Violence is highly looked down upon in Taika, no one is permitted to use unwarranted violence against another whether from another pack or not. Aggression is only used when absolutely necessary in way of self-defense.
Consequence for lawbreaking: Severe. The first offence is immediate demotion to Darys and a Sentinel to monitor them. Second offence is the removal of said wolf from the pack due to an inability to conform with Taika's values of non-violence. Should the first offence cause grievous bodily harm (should it be more than a small scuffle) this law-breaking will result in immediate exile from the pack.
Disrespecting a wolf of lower status or ostracizing a wolf for their differences (ex. coming from a different pack, struggles choosing a trade, etc.) is not tolerated to any degree. Taika is close knit and bonded through their shared values regardless of the personal differences between. Not respecting packmates is seen as highly disrespectful and verbally/mentally aggressive.
Consequence for lawbreaking: Moderate. The first offence is a verbal warning and a required apology given to the victim to make amends. Second offence will lead to a demotion to the next lowest rank and paired with a Mediator to work on not allowing such actions to happen again. Third will be immediate demotion to Darys, continuing to work with the Mediator.
Disturbing the dead or desecrating any wolf's grave (Taikan or not) is completely forbidden.
Consequence for lawbreaking: Severe. This will immediately result in permanent banishment from Taikan's safe haven, the wolf not being seen fit to keep the South as safe and peaceful as it intends to be.
Murder - or attempted murder - is the highest offence a wolf could commit.
Consequence for lawbreaking: Severe. This will immediately result in permanent banishment from Taikan's safe haven, the wolf not being seen fit to keep the South as safe and peaceful as it intends to be. Said offender may only have a chance of being allowed back into Taika if the act was done out of self-defense.
