In a treacherous land such as Svajone, it is not unusual for pups and adolescents to find themselves orphaned and in need of a wolf to act as their guardian. To ensure that selected guardians are canonically appropriate, and that orphan characters are fairly regulated, Svajone has certain regulations pertaining to orphans and guardians.
Pups or adolescents without living in game parents are considered orphans, and require an in game guardian aged adult or older to care for them.
If there is a whole litter of orphaned characters, they will all be placed in the care of the same guardian.
If there are multiple only-child orphaned characters of the same age, they can be placed in the care of one guardian and raised together, or in the care of two different guardians.
Characters born in game can be orphaned if all of their in game parents are retired, or if they are abandoned by their in game parents.
These orphans must then find another character in game to act as their guardian who meets the necessary requirements for guardianship (section below). There are no additional fees for a character who is orphaned in game.
Players may, if they wish, create a new pup or adolescent character who is not related to any in game characters.
This type of character creation bypasses the usual required in game development to create an in game puppy and as a result it is classified as a kind of snowflake trait.
Creating an unattached orphan comes with an additional cost at time of creation.
15 souls, stacks on top of the cost of a new character.
The player must also locate a character to act as their guardian, who meets the necessary requirements for guardianship (section below).
The population of unattached orphan characters is regulated by limited slots.
There are 3 spaces per pack.
When an existing orphan character ages up to young adult, a slot becomes available once more.
This prevents any one pack being overwhelmed with dependents and ensures that a larger variety of suitable guardians will be available to choose from.
Guardianship of an orphaned character should not be decision taken lightly. Although not blood related, the relationship between a guardian and their ward is often no different to family. Characters who are selected to act as guardians over orphaned pups and adolescents must be canonically appropriate.
This type of character creation bypasses the usual required in game development to be able to act as a parent, and as a result, comes with a fee and a set of in character requirements, which must be met before the character will be considered for guardianship.
The fee is 10 souls. The fee applies once per guardianship situation, no matter how many individuals come into the guardians care at one time.
To become a guardian characters must:
Have been a member of their current pack for at least 6 months
Be ranked Gamma/Kilti/Tradewolf/Master at minimum
Be aged Adult or older
Be in good standing with their pack
The players must contact the Alpha player of the respective pack and check that preferred guardian is suitable IC before proceeding.
