The Kol protect their borders fiercely. For many years Malaysia and her early followers yearned for independence, and now that they have ownership of their own land, they do not permit others to trespass or disrespect it. Furthermore, Kol territory contains a number of highly valued landmarks, which they intend to keep out of reach from prying eyes.
It is primarily the task of the Dios to defend the border, however all Kol are expected to protect the land and must not allow a breach.
Regular loiterers will be chased away.
Under absolutely no circumstances should any Kol other than Malaysia herself permit entry to an outsider.
If an outsider wishes to meet Malaysia they must wait at the border under guard while a message is relayed to her. If she agrees to meet them, she will most come to the border herself, rather than invite them in.
If a wolf crosses the border without permission, the Kol are expected to sound the alarm and react with violent force. Trespassing will not be tolerated. Attack first, ask questions later.
Visitors approaching Kol territory:
Provided they maintain a safe distance from the border, Kol do not tend to greet visitors with violence, for the pack maintains an air of plausible deniability.
That is not to say they warmly welcome strangers. They are inherently suspicious of any approach or new arrival, and always put the wellbeing and protection of the pack above all else.
Visitors are only useful insofar as the information they can provide to further the Kol’s cause.
Regular visitors to Kol who are simply trying to gain information for themselves or treat the border like a social gathering will be forcibly removed. Regular loiterers will be noted and may negatively impact the overall relationship between the packs.
Encounters in the Freelands:
To wolves they meet in the freelands, Kol are not immediately violent. Gathering information is more valuable than spilling blood and Kol should think on their feet in order to garner maximum benefit from any interactions.
There is always a hope that more followers may be swayed to the cause, but Kol should learn to recognise those of weaker mind, and not waste time on a lost cause.
Kol discovered to be regularly meeting wolves of other packs for their own social benefit will be suspected of treason. If a wolf does not have a purpose for their travel or their meeting which benefits the pack, then they should not be travelling or meeting at all.
All travel should have a purpose for the good of the pack.
No wolf should leave the territory without first gaining permission of their superior, or Malaysia herself. If a wolf leaves without permission, they will likely be suspected of desertion, and punished for the transgression if they do return.
OOC: You can use the #ask-the-alpha channel to seek permission for travel. Be aware that Malaysia is a strict and unforgiving leader, and as such, there is a high likelihood of requests being denied. This is never personal and has nothing to do with the Alpha player's personal opinions.
No wolf should visit another pack unless they have been explicitly ordered to do so by Malaysia.
Rhete are the only trade who have freedom to pass in and out of the Kol borders as they please, as it is the nature of their work to explore the island and return to Malaysia with their findings. They may skirt the borders of other packs but are not expected to cross borders or do anything that would compromise the safety of Kol.
Ocuuli are permitted to travel for herbs, but only if ranked Kilti or above. Kol territory is vast and varied, and even these gatherers should rarely need to venture further afield. They should never travel more than a few hours from the border and should return to within the territory within the same day.
Dios are expected to defend the pack borders, not travel. To step beyond the border is to leave the Kol weakened, and this is unacceptable.
If ranked Kilti or above, Dios may be included in a rotation which patrols Magellan Brook.
If ranked Kilti or above, Dios may also be tasked to accompany Rhete if journeying to more dangerous climes (such as westerly toward Stonehaven).
There are no other circumstances in which a Dios should be beyond the territory.
Adnos are tasked with defending the temple and as such have absolutely no need to travel beyond the borders whatsoever. They should only cross the border if they are given a task that requires it (for example, when Malaysia tasked all Kol with investigating Melusine).
Indas are considered to be the Kol’s secret weapon and should be protected. As such, they are also generally expected to remain within the territory. These wolves are honing their magical abilities, and depending on the nature of their ability, may sometimes be granted permission to take small journeys beyond the border. They must have the direct permission of the Alva to do so, and the reward of the journey must outweigh the risk of being revealed.
Varen are yet to prove themselves, and are confined wholly to the territory. If they leave the border without express permission from Malaysia, they will be refused entry on return.
