Process Reflections

PHASE 1

ACADEMY SYSTEMS S.C.R.U.M STUDENT OWNERSHIP

Student Ownership

PRIYA "To own your work, sometimes you just have to start doing whatever your project is and believe in yourself because then you will be more confident in yourself and feel like the work is yours. You also have to actually do the project because it is yours and no one else is going to do it for yourself. When you accomplish your goal, you feel more proud of it because you put so much effort into it. For example, when we had to take apart our builds, no one wanted to because we had put a lot of effort into it. To own your work takes a lot of effort and isn't comfortable at first, but is so much more rewarding than just following what a teacher tells you to do."

ALLIE "Scrum showed me a different way to think, it gave me new insight on how to stay organized and in order. I thought it was cool to learn about how different personalities can connect, almost like each one balances the others out. It was interesting to see a team less like a group of people, and more like a system of contributing gears. Each one with it's own skill and value it brings to help keep the others moving. Scrum really taught me a lot about teamwork and ideas. It gave me some new things to think about, and new things to reflect on. Such as the teamwork piece I mentioned earlier. In conclusion, Scrum was an amazing learning experience I'm glad I got to participate in."

Student Ownership

Jada "To own your work you have to say what you think and speak your mind. You are not a team member if you don't suggest ideas or thoughts, you are just THERE. No one else is there to do your work for you, so get in the zone and push forward by sharing your thoughts and ideas. You may feel like some questions are useless, but those silly questions may be something no one else has ever thought of before. They might take it into consideration and your idea could have the potential of moving the whole team forward. You should own that and take credit for it. When you do this, your self-confidence increases a lot! When you have that extra boost of self-confidence, you can keep adding onto the great idea you already have. This proves that just believing and taking ownership can really benefit you when thinking out solutions."
