Day 10
Demo or Die
Today is the day. Today the students will tell their story of their prototype with these prompts.
•Explain what you intended to invent.
•Share what inspired your invention.
•Explain what you actually made.
•Demonstrate your invention.
•Audience asks questions.
•Everyone applauds.
Preparing to collaborate with NASA to survive on the moon is rigorous & relevant. This matters
Ideate, prototype, get feedback, fail forward, ideate some more, refine, get MORE feedback, and EVOLVE..
Challenging learners to consider the EXPERIENCE they are solving for, not just the SOLUTION
This is a crucial element as their words will be more powerful than the actual prototypes they have created. Hone in on what they are expressing so that a narrative can start to be developed in the upcoming lessons.
Example Presentations
Astronaut Spacesuit for long term exploration
Greenhouse Concept 1
Train Concept
Tunnel Across Crater Concept
Green House Concept 2
Rover Concept
Resources
The video below captures what a week of prototyping could look like. Sloppy, messy, hard to see the vision mixed in with new learning as students also will learn how to cut cardboard for the first time, how to create engineering structures, learn how to code, etc. There are many layers of new learning taking place this week so allow it happen.
